Interesteg What makes it different from others?
Supelice Dreadfully Boring
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
sergelamarche Well done and all but I found the story a bit forced after a while. The parents are simply too irresponsible, with oversized egos to be making sense. Although I admit that worse things have happened, with less sense.
sanjin_9632 First of all. That little girl is cute as hell.Secondly, Julianne Moore and Steve Coogan are doing a great job of playing two self-absorbed assholes. Especially Moore. She perfectly managed to portray an attention-seeking jealous monster. The role suits her way more than the one she got an Oscar for. That movie was painfully dull and simply horrible. Skarsgaard and Vanderham also excel as the two good counterparts to her parents in Maisie's life.Nothing else to say. Performances are great. The story's not new. Kramer Vs. Kramer probably being the best movie in the genre. 6.6/10 for the performances.
blueeyedbabe5421 This little girl was so intriguing to watch, I was even reminded of my self at that age. It was really a shame her parents couldn't get over themselves and really see her and what she was going through. I started to get upset when Maisie was continually abandoned places over and over without anyone making sure there was an adult there to watch her. I tried to calm down and not let it affect my feelings for the movie. I kept thinking this can't happen, someone would call the cops, especially when she was left at the restaurant. Then I realized this is a reality for some kids and many children have it much worse. Maisie's mother just had no control over her emotions or behavior. She loved to throw words around like "MY daughter" Yet she was so quick to leave her with other people without so much as checking up on her. She was so selfish, Lincoln said it best when he told her "you don't deserve her." I was really hoping Lincoln and Margot would just take Maisie away. Her idiot mother completely over reacted to everything! Shame on her for making Maisie feel bad about being close with Lincoln. Maisie finally has someone who pays attention to her its natural to be fond of that person. In the end you see her mom does love her I think she just is not sure how to be responsible and put her kid first. I think thats the point of this film, maybe some parents don't see what they are doing to their kid. Even small little things and comments you make over time affect your child. This film showing "what Maisie knows" really does that perfectly.
ematerso This was a very beautiful and powerful movie. If by beautiful and powerful I am understood to mean that the director, writer, actors and producers made the best representation of sadly, what is too often a common story. The child actress steals the movie. She is adorable, never overacts or is other than a real little girl with very understandable emotions.I thought all the other actors did a very good job too, with maybe the exception of Julianne Moore. I'm not sure how old Susanna was supposed to be, but Julianne seemed too old for this role. Her role though is the most thankless as Susanna is a thoroughly unpleasant person, manipulative, egocentric, demanding, heedless, and ever so selfish. Her one shining moment comes towards the end of the film. This was very upsetting for us to watch, but I think it is necessary because there are many little Maisies and Max's probably that most of us know.
