Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

The DVD calls itself 'William the Conqueror', not signalling that it is in French, and entirely set before William set sail.Seeing the Conquer as a child and young man fighting for survival however quite interesting. The battle scenes were realistic, though it was often unclear which side anyone was on.Worth it for serious viewers.
