This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

,,,,,,,,,,, compared to the other last two movie in the series. I found the plot in this, way to silly even for the Wishmaster series and they tame down on the gore as well.I love gory kills in the first two movie, that what makes these movies more fun, that is another reason, why I didn't like it.As it was not fun to watch at all, like the other in the series. I hated the effect and that there new actor playing The Djinn, I just could not get used to him playing this role. he nothing compared to NathanielDemerest who fitted the role perfectly.The acting in this movie was not too bad, better then I expected to be. Also hated the ending of this what really poor way to end. 3 out of 10 (That 3 Points are for the acting)

The Wishmaster series continues its descent into the depths of direct to video hell, as the movies got cheaper and less fun.The premise of this movie is that the Gem containing the Djinn is now found in cheap box instead of a nice statue of Ahura-Mazda. Also lost in the budget cutting was Andrew Divoff, the guy who gave the Wishmaster all his menace in the previous two films.In this one, the Wishmaster is released by yet another troubled hot chick. (Seriously, I guess if a guy ever released the Wishmaster, the movie would be over in ten minutes after he wished for a keg, a million bucks and some hot babes!) While he is killing time, the new Wishmaster clumsily bullies his victims into making foolish wishes. (Again, Divoff's version was much more sinister in his manipulations.) I'm guessing they filmed this on a real college campus, because they have a lot of footage of people running about doing that setting.The plot also involves invoking the Archangel Michael to help defeat the Wishmaster by bringing a sword that can kill it. Or something. Just tricking it with a cleverly worded third wish wasn't going to cut it anymore.

Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001) ** (out of 4) The third film in the series has the evil Djinn (John Novak) taking over the body of a college professor (Jason Connery) hoping that he can force one of his students (A.J. Cook) into making three wishes, which will cause the gates of hell to open up on Earth. It appears that fans of the series really, really hate this movie but since I'm not a fan then perhaps that's why I didn't mind this film too much. With that said, there's no doubt that this isn't a good movie by any stretch of the imagination but I thought it was entertaining enough if you have nothing better to do and want to watch some gory kills. One good thing the film did have going for it is that we got real special effects and not just a bunch of fake looking CGI, which is something that the majority of the horror films from this era had switched over to. The gore effects aren't going to remind anyone of the work of Tom Savini but I thought they were good enough and at least the director knew to deliver the gore in a film like this. We even get a woman being attacked by rats and perhaps the highlight of the film is a scene where a woman wishes that she was skinny so the Djinn basically makes her puke up her insides. This scene isn't nearly as effective as the one in Lucio Fulci's CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD but it's still pretty good on its own. Another thing I liked about the movie was the performance of Cook who I thought was very cute in the role but she also turned in a good performance. Sure, there's nothing Oscar-worthy here and she's not given too much to do but for the third film in a bad horror series I thought she delivered the goods and more. Novak is good as the evil guy and even his look is quite good. WISHMASTER 3 still suffers from going on way too long and there are simply too many spots where there's just nothing interesting happening. Still, as far as horror films goes, there are much worse out there than this one.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie since I saw the IMDb rating before renting it. Although I still tried it out since the rating of horror movies are usually always low. That's were I was wrong. The rating can be very accurate sometimes, if not higher than it should be. Because this was one lame movie.First thing that I hated from Wishmaster 3, is the fact that Andrew Divoff wasn't cast as the Djinn. Instead, there's this weird, old guy who definitely doesn't match up to Divoff. I also hated the fact that the stone suddenly changed places. I think maybe because it was a different Djinn or something, but I still didn't like it.The only reason I gave this movie a 2 and not a 1 because I enjoyed some of the wishes. For example, the weight-loss and heart-breaking ones were cool. And also because it has the most disturbing death in the Wishmaster series; the rat scene. That made me shiver and I couldn't even imagine the pain that she went through before she died.Besides that, I found this movie pretty boring and stupid. I'd still rent it if you enjoyed the first two. Maybe you happen to like it. It didn't happen to me though, so it's your risk.
