Surprisingly incoherent and boring

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Rio Hayward
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Orla Zuniga
It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

Once there's always a PPV which Smackdown represents it, you know that it is going to be a good event, & this one was no surprise.FIRST MATCH- MNM W/ MELINA VS. HARDCORE HOLLY & CHARLIE HAAS FOR THE WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Hot way to start off the show. This was a pretty good tag team match, although I wish it could off been just a bit better. Also Charlie Haas has improved quite a bit in the ring. MNM nail the Snapshot on Haas for the win & to retain their WWE Tag Team Championship. 5/10SECOND MATCH- CARLITO W/ MATT MORGAN VS. BIG SHOW A bad & boring match, Carlito does not have that much talent in the ring, while Big Show is always a sloppy wrestler. While the referee is down, Matt Morgan unbelievably picks up the Big Show & nails an F-5 on him, which makes Carlito get the unbelievable & surprising win against the Big Show. 3/10THIRD MATCH- PAUL London VS. CHAVO GUERRERO FOR THE WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Another thing I love Smackdown more than Raw is because off the Cruiserweights. This match was pretty good & awesome, with both Cruiserweights showing that they can handle well in the ring. London nails the 450 Splash to defeat Chavo & retain his WWE Cruiserweight Championship. 5/10FOURTH MATCH- BOOKER T VS. KURT ANGLE Another nice, long match, both Angle & Booker T have got great chemistry in the ring together. After almost a 15 minute match, Booker T gets a roll-up on Angle for the prestigious win. After the match, Sharmell comes to celebrate with Booker T, only to get handcuffed to the ropes by Angle. Then Booker T comes & handcuffs Angle to the ropes & beats the hell out of him. Sharmell slaps Angle a few times, then kicks him right in the groin before heading to the back with Booker, leaving Angle humiliated & stuck to the ropes. 5/10FIFTH MATCH- ORLANDO JORDAN VS. HEIDENREICH FOR THE WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP Before the match began, Heidenreich chose a girl from the crowd to be his friend. Slow, sloppy & a bit of a boring match. Orlando Jordan does not have the right material to be a U.S Champion. Orlando Jordan nails a DDT on Heidenriech to win & retain his WWE United States Championship. After the match, Heidenreich & the girl from the crowd march around a bit in the ring. 3/10SIXTH MATCH- EDDIE GUERRERO VS. REY MYSTERIO This has got to be the most personal match ever. It was an okay match, which took a bit long like 15 to 20 minutes. It was still alright, Mysterio & Guerrero just blow the roof off arena's when they wrestle together. Mysterio wins by disqualification, after Mysterio went for a springboard cross body but Guerrero hit him with a chair. After the match, Eddie beat Mysterio up by slamming him repeatedly on the ribs with a chair, making Mysterio having to be taken on a stretcher. 5/10SEVENTH MATCH- JOHN CENA VS. JBL IN AN 'I QUIT' MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP A very sick, long brutal match this was. Which was really entertaining. This main event has made this PPV to be remembered for almost years to come. Hats off to Cena & JBL putting on a classic Smackdown main event here at Judgment Day. Cena was going to hit JBL with a truck steel pipe, but before he could, JBL uttered the words 'I Quit' making Cena win & retain his WWE Championship. 6/10Pretty good Smackdown PPV, as Smackdown is the greatest show & also better than Raw. Nothing that much wrong with it, as the matches were good, but the US title match & Big Show vs. Carlito were the only least great match on this event, but still a great Smackdown PPV.Overall I'll give it 7/10 & a C+

Wasn't Judgment Day a pleasant surprise? After a disastrous 2004 for Smackdown! only events, JD delivered all it promised and then more. The WWE Tag Team Title match was excellent. I think Mercury and Nitro have great potential. The WWE could do with more hot young tag teams like this at the moment.Booker T and Kurt Angle had an exciting match up. The only thing that spoilt this was the seedy Kurt Angle character that he is having to portray at the moment. I prefer Kurt Angle the gold medal winner to Kurt Angle the rapist.Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio had another blinder, at least Mysterio's mask wasn't proving a distraction in this one. This has the potential to be the feud of the year if they keep putting on in ring performances like this. And on to the main event. After the disastrous and down right embarrassing match at WrestleMania 21 these guys needed to put on one hell of a show to impress me. They did. Sure they used every cheap trick in the book, outside brawling, weapons etc, but they did it well. Cena also did a fabulous juice job. Judgment Day is turning into a right bloody event isn't it after this years and last.Good, solid event. All talent seemed to want to put on a good show. Keep it up Smackdown!.

Match 1-WWE Tag Team Championship-MNM(with Melina at ringside) (c) vs. Charlie Haas and Hardcore Holly. VERY boring. Haas and Holly have NO charisma. Nitro smacks Haas from behind w/ref distracted and MNM does the Snapshot. 2/10 Winners and still WWE Tag Team Champions by pinfall:MNM Match 2-Carlito (with Matt Morgan at ringside vs. Big Show-Carlito's hilarious. Ref runs into Carlito and falls down. Big show goes for a chokeslam but in comes Morgan and gives Show an F-5 (he doesn't do it as well as Lesnar) Carlito covers show for the win. 4/10 Winner by pinfall:Carlito Match 3-Cruiserweight Championship-Paul London vs. Chavo Guerrero-London is excellent as usual. Goes for the 450 early but chavo blocks and works on London ribs the whole match. Chavo goes for a superplex late in the match but London punches him off and gives him the 450 for the win. 5/10 Winner by pinfall and still Cruiserweight Champion:Paul London Match 4-Booker T (with sharmell at ringside) vs. Kurt Angle-Man, Booker was mad and did a good job showing it making it good. Booker does a small package for the win. Angle does the angle slam to booker after and tries to handcuff sharmell to the ropes. Booker comes back and handcuffs angle. Kurt gets beat up by husband and wife. 6.5/10 Winner by Pinfall:Booker T Match 5-US Title-Orlando Jordan vs. Heidenreich-I think i fell asleep during this one. Orlandos wins with a DDT. You heard me right, a friggin' DDT. 1/10 Winner by Pinfall: Orlando Jordan Match 6-Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero-Brilliant match. Eddie works on Rey's ribs throughout the match. Chavo eventually comes down to distract Mysterio. Nevertheless, Rey hits the 619 and goes for the springboard. Eddies smacks Rey in mid-air to get Dq'd. He smacks Rey afterward and leaves EMT's tending to Rey with an evil smile. 8/10 Winner by DQ:Rey Mysterio Match 7-WWE Championship I Quit match-WOW. This is the best match i've seen in over a year. Amazing. JBL slaps Cena with a leather belt early and chokes him. JBL then smacks him with a chair and Cena starts to bleed. JBL then chokes cena with his chain gang chain. Cena comes back and hits the FU. He drags JBL onto a truck, but JBL DDT's him. Cena then punches JBL through a table. He grabs the trucks exhaust pipe coming toward a cornered JBL, who quits. Excellent match. 10/10 Winner by Quit and still WWE Champion:John CenaOverall 6/10. The under card is so poor that it drags one of the greatest title defenses and good grudge matches down.

Wasn't Judgment Day a pleasant surprise? This boasted three excellent matches and the others with the exception of Heidenreich vs Orlando Jordan were acceptable. This was the hottest Smackdown! PPV since No Way Out 2004, and doesn't that seem like ages ago? Results from Judgment Day which was seen by 8000 fans in the arena were as follows:MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro managed by Melina) defeated Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas to retain the WWE tag team titles in a fair match.Orlando Jordan retained the US title against Heidenreich in a poor match.Paul London retained the Cruiserweight title against Chavo Guerrero in a grand match.Carlito downed The Big Show with assistance from Matt Morgan in a comedy match.Rey Mysterio defeated Eddy Guerrero in a fine match.John Cena retained the WWE title from JBL in a blood stunt I quit match. Considering their p*ss poor match from Wrestlemania XXI, this was a very good improvement.Keep it up WWE! Overall Grade - A-
