Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Patience Watson One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
Scotty Burke It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
amanwhorocks 1. Hart Foundatione Vs. The Brainbusters Good match, but bad ending. 6.5/10 2. Honky Tonk Man Vs. Dusty Rhodes w. his most idiotic gimmick - Good thing for NWA that Dusty is here this time. Poor Honky Tonk must laid down to this stiff. 3/10 3. Mr. Perfect Vs. COCK red rooster - Nooo, give that man some decent gimmick. 7.5/10 4. The Rockers/Tito Santana Vs. The Rougeau Brothers/Rick Martel - Guys, that was an action! 7.5/10 5. IC Title Match: Champ-Ravishing Rick Rude Vs. "I'm taunting like hell but my wrestling skills are poor" Warrior - Oh no, title change :-/ that touch my rating! But must give credit, match was pretty exciting. Btw: funny, how Warrior screwed that last German Suplex and hurt himself instead Rude :D 5/10Piper's Appearance -5/106. 3 Really Bad Wretlers (Andre, Big Stiff Man, OMG) vs. Jim "LOL at him" Duggan/Warpaint Brothers - So, that match must sucks, but I'll give a chance... that Faces, seriously? Don't like Punch-Kick matches 4/10 7. Hercules Vs. Greg Valentine - Bad, yeah bad... 4/10 8. Ted Dibiase Vs. Jimmy Snuka - 4/10 9. Macho Man/Zeus Vs. Mentally Ill Beefcake/Hulk Hogan -I never know, what's so entertaining on these main events, wrestling is the weakest part of it. Invincible HULK... 4/10
wrestlingsitewebmaster This Summerslam from the Meadowlands arena, failed to product a worthy PPV. Summerslam in 1988 was way better than this and some of the matches were a colossal bore. Tom 'Zeus' Lister was an actor not a wrestler and it showed. All he could do was shout and smile, he had no wrestling qualities, but then again McMahon liked the guy because of his size. The result? A p*ss poor main event. Results from the show: The Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) defeated The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Heidhart) in a fair but long match.Dusty Rhodes defeated The Honky Tonk Man in a boring match. The only interesting thing in this match was at the end. Jimmy Hart accidentally hit Honky with his own guitar and Dusty got the win.Mr Perfect downed The Red Rooster in a short match. The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) and Tito Santana lost to The Fabulous Rougeou Brothers and Rick Martel. The Ultimate Warrior beat Rick Rude to win the Intercontinental Championship in a passable match.King Duggan and Demolition defeated Akeem, Big Bossman and Andre the Giant in a fair match.Greg 'the hammer' Valentine defeated Hercules. However special ring announcer Ronnie Garven declared that Hercules won by DQ after Valentine cheated by putting his feet on the ropes. No one actually knows who the winner was, even to this day!!! 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase defeated 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka in a good match.Hulk Hogan and Brutus 'the barber' Beefcake defeated 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Zeus in a crap match. Not good! Overall Grade - C
wwfhistoryguy *SPOILERS*This one had only one good singles match, The Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude. Warrior was not a wrestler by any stretch of the imagination, but he always had excellent matches against Rude. The opening tag team match was about as good as they get. The Hart Foundation got cheated out of yet another SummerSlam win against the Brain Busters, but they probably could have gotten away with letting Tully and Arn win cleanly. But why weren't the titles on the line? I can't figure out any reason for this.I liked both of the six-man matches. Duggan, Demolition, Akeem, Andre, and Bossman in the same match is just fun to think about. And Duggan had the time of his life teaming with Ax and Smash. The other six-man match was incredibly good, but it would have worked better had the Rockers fought the Rougeaus and Martel faced Tito one on one. Although the Rockers would eventually dominate their feud with the Rougeaus, Jacques and Ray got the high-profile win at SummerSlam.Tiny Lister sure was a good sport with his Zeus gimmick. He's a serious actor, and this would be embarrassing to most actors. And I'm glad Brutus Beefcake got to be in the main event. This almost made up for the fact that he was cheated out of a title shot at the previous and next SummerSlam.Good show, worth a look. Honestly, you might want to fast-forward through the singles matches.
jcraft-1 This was a great wresteling event from 1989. It was held at the Medowlands Arena in New Jersey. I like the main event which was Hulk Hogan and Brutis "The Barber" Beefcake vs. The "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Zeus. That was a classic WWF Event. One other of the matches I thought was also great was Dusty Rhodes vs "The Honky Tonk Man." I will remember "The Blue Blazer" aka the late Owen Hart for his great wresteling matches including this one with "Mr. Perfect" Curt Henning. Also, This was Andre The Giant's Last summerslam as he teamed up with The Big Boss Man and Akeem to take on "Hacksaw" Jim Duggin and The Rockers Shawn Micheals and Marty Jenatty. In anther great Match, This is a rematch from wrestlemaina 5, The Ultimate Warrior Tooked on "Ravishing" Rick Rude for the I.C. Belt and I loved it when the Warrior won his second I.C. belt. Rowdy Rowdy Piper was there, too. This was a great Pay-Per-Veiw.
