This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

As of this review, it has been 4 years since this movie came out and re-watching this movie over and over again never takes anything out of it. It is purely SPECTACULAR and it's complexity never insults the audience's intelligence. It is not as complicated and confusing as a movie like inception but it makes you think as human beings as well as movie goers. It is this complexity that makes me give this movie a 10 and if possible an 11 as well because as super hero movies keep coming out and eating up the box office, there is an increase in technical quality with a decrease in plot quality that I do not appreciate... almost as if super hero movies are made only for children. To start with, the cast and crew. The cast is truely on point with their script with top actors like Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Micheal Fassbender, etc. They do their bests to not take the spotlight of each other and they excel in it wonderfully. I know some people, as of 2018, do feel Jennifer Lawrence is overrated but this is indeed her best movie since Silver Lining Playbook, which was also another great movie. Also to highlight, a big deal of this movie revolves around her character Mystique and this actually gives wolverine a plot driver role rather than making him the plot and one could say that wolverine role in this movie is not too important or a much better word, consequential in this movie. This is also the return of Bryan Singer as a director in the X-Men which extends his streak in great X-Men movies, almost like anything he touches turns to gold (with the exception of X-Men apocalypse of course) and this is primarily because of his vast knowledge of the X-Men universe as I am very sure he did read a lot of X-Men comic books as a young child. He was the first person to give us a good superhero team movie in the form of X-Men in 2000 and is of no doubt one of the main reason for the super hero movie hysteria that is presently going on today, making it seem cool in social circles. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing to be honest.Another thing to talk about about is the technical aspects of it. Nothing was spared on this movie as it was one of the highly budgeted movies at the time with a budget of 200 million dollars (And yes U.S dollars not Zimbabwean dollars). It's graphics were on point, it's 70s atmosphere was cool as it is set in 1973 and it even brushes on a little on the Vietnam war, on which I am a history buff on. Nuff said, let's move on to the plot. The plot on this movie is very much inspired by the sentinel arc in the X-Men comics and cartoons. Anybody that has some significant knowledge knows that it is the best story arc in the X-Men universe no matter the adaptation, this movie only solidifies that claim. This movie is both a direct sequel of The Wolverine and X-Men first class, with it having better connections in terms of plot with X-Men first class thus you may need to watch first class to understand what's going on in the past. It also resets the X-Men universe to give future X-Men movies more creative space without sacrificing the continuity of the franchise. It starts with Wolverine being brought to the future by Professor X and Magneto immediately after the events of The Wolverine. The future is gloom and all hope is almost lost and Professor X and Magneto are working together to fight against the sentinels but it is too late with mutants being hunted down and killed by sentinels. You see mutants die left and right in this movie which only makes it darker, which I absolutely loved about the movie. Wolverine is then sent back to 1973 as a hail mary by Professor X with Kitty Pryde's powers, which is basically putting the conscience of one's future self in his or her past's body (I had no idea she had those powers to be honest). His mission to to stop a certain event that happens in 1973 that'll kick start the creation of the sentinels by Trask Industries with 100% approval from the American government as they now see all mutants hostile as Mystique tries to kill Boliver Trask in 1973. This movie is simply amazing and I'll recommend to anybody with a decent I.Q, especially comic book fans to watch this movie. What really gives this movie a legendary status in my opinion is the ending. An ending that simplifies and concludes a very complicated plot and leaves you as a movie watcher satisfied, emotional and fulfilled. An ending that, I have to admit, made me shed a tear. I would have been happy if this was the end of the X-Men universe which started in 2000, but Hollywood had to ruin it with a bad sequel movie in X-Men apocalypse. Although it's still early too judge the franchise with the Dark Phoenix yet to come out so I'll give the X-Men franchise the benefit of the doubt but still nothing takes anything away from this movie. Simply amazing and made me choose the X-Men franchise over the now famous overrated bandwagoned MCU. It is a movie I will put alongside the likes of the dark knight trilogy, 2002's Spider-man, GOTG 1, and Captain America Winter Soldier. Wonderful movie, 11/10.

The film (directed by Bryan Singer) is inspired by the comics made by MARVEL, x-men days of future past issue #1. In this story line, which is very interesting considering the time-travel in the movie, involves Wolverine being sent back to warn Professor Xavier about an imminent danger. It takes place in 1973 (past) and in 2023 (future), changing between time-lines seamlessly. The acting in this movie was really good, from Hugh Jackman to Peter Dinklage, it was top notch. You can tell they tried to fulfill their rolls. The soundtrack was amazingly composed, returning from X-MEN 2 UNITED and with a whole set of other new themes. To wrap this up, would I recommend this movie? Yes, it is very well produced; the story borrows from the comics but still is varied enough so that it keeps itself fresh. The special effects are incredible, the team made a really good job with them. Thanks for Reading.

While I liked Days of Future Past, in the end I felt a bit disappointed - not by the film itself, which was fine, but by the realisation that it was made as a rebooting vehicle. The story is fairly easy to simplify down to "X-Men meet Terminator", but the action scenes are good, some are even great, the main cast is doing a good job (James McAvoy for example seemed to me to be doing a better job than at First Class), while the (shorter than we'd like) presence of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen is always superb. Peter Dinklage makes a fine villain, although his role could be bigger as well. The usual problem with this sort of time travel films is, ironically, the predictability. It was a particularly easy guess that the future heroes would die, but the mission would succeed, so no harm done. Which makes the death scenes of heroes like Storm or the parting words between X and Magneto lose all of their dramatic value, and work simply as a way to say goodbye not to the characters, but to the actors. Which brings us to the second issue - this may be just a personal quirk, but I do not appreciate alternate timelines. I realise it's a very common comic-book trope, but it seriously bothers me to have a film end by telling me "you know what, all the previous X-Men films never happened! Jean is alive, everyone is happy, hooray!". While I understand the reasoning, both dramatically and from a marketing point of view ('we want to make films with the new actors, because these ones are old' or something) I find it dishonest, cheap, and more importantly, subversive to all the previous movies. So all in all, I liked the film, but would much prefer it if it had somehow set its divergence point at some point after the Last Stand - though I will admit I don't see how they could do that AND include the new cast.

**Spoiler included** Just to keep brief I thought it shed some light into Charles and Eric's past that was needed in the series. Overall great graphics, over plot played out and great directing and acting. This really takes the series to where it needs to go for Xmen Apocalypse. I give it a seven because they could have explained some parts of the film better.
