The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

Yogi Bear (2010): Dir: Eric Brevig / Cast: Tom Cavenagh, Anna Faris, Andrew Daly / Voices: Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake: Here is an example of computer generated images taking charge while plot and story becomes threadbare. It is also based on a classic Hannah Barbara cartoon that deserves better cinematic respect than this. Computer generated family film about the bear with abilities like no other. Jellystone park is threatened when the corrupt Mayor decides to use its destruction for political gain. Ranger Smith must come up with a solution while dealing with Yogi Bear's picnic basket stealing ways. Directed by Eric Brevig with splendid computer graphic images of Yogi and his pal Boo Boo. Unfortunately the screenplay would make better bear dropping pickup. Dan Aykroyd voices Yogi and Justin Timberlake voices Boo Boo and despite their efforts they cannot save the disastrous script. The plot is conventional and dull thus leaving our two bears with little to do. It gets to the point where viewers will likely wish a six pack was in one of those baskets just to cure the nonsense. Anna Faris shows up as a wildlife preserver. After her great comedic performance in Observe and Report what a waste her talent is here. Tom Cavenagh plays Ranger Smith who is a love lorn total cardboard along with his dimwitted employee. The evil Mayor takes the prize as most embarrassing spectacle in the entire film. He is played by Andrew Daly who should have wished that his role was animated so that he not been shamed on screen. Celebrated cartoon subdued in idiot plot. Score: 5 / 10

I do not recall watching many of the cartoons, but just watching this movie alone, I would say it was a decent one for my 3-year-old. He loved the talking bear, and although some of the outfits (specifically women) were questionable, I do not regret paying the $1 to rent it. My son also tried to save his turtle after watching! ;] Again, not sure how this compares to the cartoons. I think I do remember one or two curse words in it that I was not too pleased with. As you can probably guess, we are a rather conservative family and always try to find wholesome family movies to watch. All in all, it was enjoyable for family night and I wouldn't be upset to watch it again. Also liked hearing familiar voices and faces in the film!

Do not agree with some of the reviews written below, I loved this film. So it may not have a completely original plot but I've got to say that I enjoyed every minute. I thought the cast all played a brilliant part and made the movie a real enjoyable watch. It had moments of great excitement and lots of laughs.Having watched the Yogi Bear cartoon in the past, this made a welcome revisit to Jellystone and the lovable Yogi and Boo Boo.Whether you're a child now, or at heart you're bound to love this film.Recommended for allBuy now!

This movie fulfilled all the expectations I had. I grew up watching dubbed Yogi Bear cartoons and I am kind of a fan of that kind of humor. Simplistic yet profound in some way, and always with a very positive attitude. That is exactly what this movie delivers. Plain old simple jokes for everybody, kids and parents. If, like myself, you're a fan of Yogi Bear you won't be disappointed. Indeed this was the best carton to big screen adaptation I've seen. If you didn't use to watch the cartoon, then I don't know what your expectations might be, but I noticed most of the people are expecting what this movie is not.The movie is very laid back. Photography and scenes are also very fresh and so is the cast performance. The cast fits the characters very well and gets the job done, there's no intense dramatic dialogs, but keep in mind that this is kid movie. The interaction between Yogi (and his faithful friend Booboo) and Ranger Smith is the cornerstone of Yogi Bear. The are friends and enemies at the same time. This passes a very positive message to the kids and the movie does it in a very faithful way, just like it was done in the cartoons. The other most characteristic aspect Yogi is his obsession for human food. Again, that is well featured in the movie.A disturbing yet positive thing about this movie is the realism of the Town Mayor character's personality. It's supposed to be a caricature, but is a very accurate one. Finally, computer generated characters and living ones work very well on this movie. Unlike most of the movies that resource to this mix, the cartoon characters blend well with the rest of the scene.Great entertainment for all the family with some classic Yogi jokes.
