Wonderful character development!
Dynamixor
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Glucedee
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

I first must note special interest: I do not like 'comedies' in which animals are mistreated for the audience's amusement: Jules White & Zion Meyers' DOGVILLE series for MGM fills me with horror. But chimpanzees are human enough and social enough that using them as performers does not disturb me and I have some fond members of the Marquis Chimps on television when I was a child. That being the case, we need to consider how well this short subject -- which has been lovingly and partially reconstructed by the fine folks at Looser Than Loose -- stacks up, and it stacks up poorly. Snooky plays a bindlestiff who rescues a child. But, aside from some chimpanzee-acting-human bits, like playing with a typewriter, this short lacks much in the way of interesting gags. I can't recommend any of the Snooky shorts, but this is one that does not add significantly to the oeuvre.
