Synopsis

The Layover is a travel and food show on the Travel Channel hosted by Anthony Bourdain. The show premiered on November 21, 2011 in an episode based on Singapore. The format and the content of the show are based on what a traveler can do, eat, visit and enjoy within 24 to 48 hours in a city. Each episode starts with the host landing at the city, with the clock starting the countdown until the time that he will leave the city. As a seasoned traveler, he meets up with locals and explores the city in and out, within matters of hours, both the touristy way and the local way. On February 15, 2012, Travel Channel renewed the show for the 2012/2013 season, selecting November 19, 2012 for the second season premiere; featured cities for the season include Atlanta, Chicago, Dublin, New Orleans, Paris, Philadelphia, São Paulo, Seattle, Toronto, and Taipei.

Reviews

Tacticalin An absolute waste of money
Borgarkeri A bit overrated, but still an amazing film
Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
tgp1994 I've never watched any shows starring Anthony before this one, so I didn't know what to expect from him.He presents various locations around the world with a dry, but likable humor that helps make an entertaining show while displaying an important contrast to the American culture that he lives in. Anthony has a fairly "unrestricted" vocabulary of family-unfriendly language that some viewers may find displeasing. I personally don't mind it too much, although I just hope that's "how he speaks" rather than him trying to use obscene language for laughs. Each show goes much more in depth than "what to do if you are stuck in X city"; Anthony tours each city, jam-packing your itinerary while discussing cheap and efficient ways to get around town, tips for places to see, how the culture of the area may differ from yours, and so on. In each episode, he seems to know at least one or two locals who usually end up giving him a tour. Sometimes the local in question may take him to a restaurant that they own. Fortunately, Anthony usually doesn't stay there long enough to make it an official endorsement.Overall, I think each episode is very educational and fun to watch. Now I just need to travel.
