The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

Sakurako Kujo is an attractive young woman who has an unusual interest; she is obsessed with bones. She has formed an unlikely friendship with high school boy Shotaro Tatewaki. Together they end up investigating a series of mysterious deaths which are solved thanks to her knowledge of bones. This is an enjoyable anime series which features a variety of fascinating mysteries. Sakurako Kujo is certainly an interesting protagonist and her collection of animal skeletons is impressive if a little creepy. Sakurako Kujo is a likable character although he is far too normal to be as interesting as Sakurako. The character designs are good and the backgrounds look really good. The animation is good too. Given the subject matter it is inevitably a bit macabre at times although not excessively so. The ending implied that there could be more to come but whether further series are made remains to be seen. Overall I found this to be a really enjoyable series and certainly recommend it to anime fans. These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
