Blistering performances.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

It was jus recently that I came across CHICAGO PD and CHICAGO MED as well. I immediately noticed the interaction between these two shows, and also with CHICAGO FIRE.
When last season came to its end, I realized all episodes from previous seasons are being shown on Oxygen as well USA! I started watching from Epidode 1 and I'm still catching up to the series, absolutely thrilled and excited to watch.
This is my type of Series, absolutely entertaining and exciting. Amazing cast!
I'll keep watching and I just hope it stays on air for long!

This show has very good episodic stories and a well developed but not overly intrusive set of back stories. The main character (Hank) as well as his "number 2" are quite flawed, yet appealing. None of the recurrent characters is without foibles that vary from funny to tragic. The acting has a genuine feel to it, and perhaps the most remarkable characteristic of the show is the intensity of the characters on display. The show has a sense of urgency throughout, even when the crimes being investigated may not. The cross-over episodes with Chicago Fire and Chicago Med are very well done.Overall an entertaining watch.

Holy crap. How many more of these spin-offs in a big city are they going to keep making? Since the early days of TV, we have seen about 5 million cop/lawyer/Emergency shows and it gets tiresome. This one is nothing special, and just trying to cash in on the successes of its predecessors and network counterparts. Chicago Hope, E.R., Emergency, Law&Order, L&O SVU, L&O criminal intent, L&O courtroom, Criminal Minds, Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, Bluebloods, NCIS, NCIS Las Vegas, CSI, CSI Miami, CSI New York, Castle, Ironsides, The Mentalist, Psych, Rizzoli and Isles, Criminal minds: Criminal Intent, House, Grey's Anatomy, the doctors,Prime Suspect, Person of Interest, In Plain Sight, Flashpoint, Monk, Crossing Jordan, Prime Suspect, = JUST TO NAME A FEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T YOU EVER GET TIRED OF THE SAME DAMN CRAP OVER AND OVER AND OVER???????????Next, it will be Law&Order elevator inspector's unit, or CSI 8-mile, or Chicago Parking Attendants. Spare me...These shows and these 3 genres for TV have been done to absolute death!!! I freaking hate them. The only good one I really love is Law and Order SVU, which is still interesting and had a lot of troubling, raw material and cool characters. The rest are as boring as taking a dump with no reading material. Can't TV producers/writers come up with ANYTHING original or different, besides 4 billion cop/law/city services melodramas or comedies?????I mean, crap, do a show about a talking tiger that flies commercial airlines to secretly help the CIA with drug smuggling and meets a neurotic queen from medieval times or something. ANYTHING NEW would be better. This show is the same as 500 others. The only way I would make time for this mediocre redundancy fest of city drama BS is if you paid me--- exorbitantly.

Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, made his Chicago series because he wanted to give viewers a separate look at the heroes who make a city run, but beyond that, he wanted to make it as realistic as possible. These shows feel a lot like one of my favorite all-time TV shows, Third Watch, but in that case they were all together in one show. Chicago P.D. focuses on major crimes detectives and shows that unlike Law & Order, the police aren't above reproach and always in control. The unit is run by Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), who while having a soft spot for victims, also runs on pure emotion. If Voight can't get the bad guy legally, he'll get them another way. He's also not the most honest cop around and has a checkered past filled with abuses of power, as seen in his debut on Chicago Fire.Voight's unit includes his best friend and uncover specialist Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas), who is more honest than Voight, but always has his back. Olinsky is a master of disguise, and is in charge of training a rookie and possibly his eventual replacement played by Patrick Flueger. Also joining Voight is Erin Lindsey (Sophia Bush) a runaway that Voight rescued and raised as his own, who is partnered with another hot head, who while reminding her of Voight, also has romantic feelings for her. Finally rounding out the squad is Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), the brother of a paramedic on Chicago Fire and the man who originally tried to put Voight in jail. He's one of Voight's best detectives, but can he be trusted? As you can see from the character descriptions, threes a lot going on here, not to mention a uniform patrol division we see on a semi-regular basis. The show isn't narrowly focused on particular types of crimes and frequently has crossover with both the other Chicago shows and Law & Order SVU.The Bottom Line, Chicago P.D. hits the bulls eye as the most realistic cop drama since Southland. They dive deeply into the characters background, families, and personalities, it's a lot of fun to watch. The way they go about doing their job is unlike any other cop show on TV and the whole Third Watch feel to the way it's filmed has me in cop heaven. I can not wait for this show to stream so I can binge away!
