I like Black Panther, but I didn't like this movie.
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

Just can't understand how anyone who likes the anarchistic humour of the clerks movies can find the bad jokes of this one funny. The ingenious thing about the movies were the actually intelligent characters who were just over the top politically incorrect and anti-social, nothing left of that in the cartoon, here everyone is just acting stupid with Dante wearily rolling his eyes. I guess Smith just couldn't sell his more provocative ideas to the cartoon producers, but given this turn in tone, 6 Episodes are at least five too much. If you want to watch a real funny cartoon, go with "Undergrads", "Home Movies" or "The Oblongs".

The idea of turning Clerks into an animated TV series was fertile ground for some potentially subversive humour. The end results...well...it could have turned out somewhat better. This series was sold to ABC TV, with six episodes as a trial. ABC, predictably fumbled the ball, big time by only airing two of the six episodes (and worse yet,in the wrong sequence,as the jokes have a thematic thread to them (plus, most of the humour was somewhat surreal). Bottom line:Clerks was canceled by ABC after only two episodes. I guess the few viewers who did catch one or both of the episodes would be confused. The jokes tend to be a satire on pop culture references. What I appreciated was that the original cast of the film supplied their own voice characters. The animation is somewhat decent. It's obvious that the crude sexual jokes would be a no no on network television, but still manages to get a few corkers across. All six episodes are currently available on a double DVD,with commentary by Jason Mewes (Jay),and sometimes even Kevin Smith, himself (as Silent Bob). Good for a video get together party.

Have you ever dreamed of what the Clerks film would be like animated? Well, look no further. This beautiful two-disc collection will give you everything your dreaming heart desires and more! Director Kevin Smith held back nothing to get this series going and sadly, as most GREAT series do, it was canceled after only two episodes. What you need to realize is that this show had more humor in it than anything on television today. It could have easily surpassed the Simpsons with the direction that Smith was taking it. Continual film references, Star Wars moments, and even parodies only enhanced this series to a whole new level. What made this short lived series even better is that we were already familiar with the characters and the setting, the only new parts were the stories and, my favorite, Leonardo Leonardo. I can't believe they had Alec Baldwin do the voice. He was hysterical. Some of my favorite scenes are:1) the McDonalds characters as town figureheads2) Judge Reinhold and the banana scenes3) Japanese animation4) Yipes, just yipes5) Sexy Randal The Pharaoh Wizard6) The flashback episode (clip episode #2)7) IKEA and Leonardo Leonardo8) Everything else in between! The only aspect of this series that I did not like was how the DVD used Jay and Silent Bob (the live characters) to introduce the next episode. I could have used without them. Nonetheless, this was imaginative, creative, and a perfect extension of the film masterpiece. A MUST HAVE for anyone that loved the original film.Grade: ***** out of *****

I greatly enjoyed this entertaining and criminally short lived animated series. Sure it was different from the 1994 movie (which was very good), but I still like it. A definite plus was having Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith reprising their roles. I also particularly liked the animation. And I can't believe ABC just canceled it after two episodes. What were they thinking? Good thing Comedy Central has aired the series from time to time, otherwise I would've missed out on it and not bothered thinking about getting the DVD. I found every episode hilarious, but the last one was my absolute favorite. Had ABC not been so foolish I think this series would still be in production today.
