Synopsis

Mackenzie Allen has a lot on her plate -- she has twin teenagers, a 6-year-old at home and an ambitious husband at the office, and she is about to become the first female president of the United States. Before that happens, however; Mackenzie, who serves as vice president, has to decide whether or not to go against the dying wishes of the current president, who has asked her to step down and let someone "more appropriate" fill his shoes in the Oval Office. Not only does the president want her to resign, so does the entire party that elected her in the first place. But when the moment of truth arrives, Mackenzie isn't willing to be a mere footnote in history. Instead of allowing her detractors to keep her down, she decides to trust her instincts and accept the most powerful job in the world.

Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
winstonfg Let me say first: I really liked this show; and I thought it was canceled *way* too quickly. At the same time, I see echoes of 'Brooklyn South': another great show (also headed by Steven Bochco) that was canceled before its time; partly - I suspect - because it started stretching for story lines. While it was the story of a new - and uncertain - female POTUS, tackling the day-to-day machinations of the Hill, while at the same time having to prove herself as "as good as a man", I thought it was great viewing; but when it started to get into ERA and oil spills and nuclear crises, it seemed to lose its way a bit.Its strength (at least in the first 10 episodes) was in the character development of the main protagonists - in particular the transition of SOH Templeton (Donald Sutherland) from hissing villain to principled, but implacable, opponent - and if it had held that course, I think it might have been given a second chance.Unfortunately (I presume), ratings won out, and and a solid, intelligent show felt the pressure to provide "thrills" instead of substance - something it's main competitor (The West Wing) never compromised on.Pity. I would have liked to have seen a few more seasons about 'Mac' and her "team", and found out a bit more about them all. And if you can find the episodes that were made, I definitely recommend you give them a look - if only to work out just how stupid ratings wars are.
ksawyer1730 I just began watching the show commander in chief for the first time on a paid TV network, I watched all 19 episodes. I was not aware of ,the TV series when it aired in 2005-2006 , so six years later I find that this has to be one of the best shows I have ever watched, I cannot believe it was ever ended . I was online trying to find the 2nd season to my disappointment there was none. with all the garbage that they bring back to TV that the viewing public would rather not watch, why not bring back an updated 2012 version of the show. I thought it was excellent. Please bring this show back, I'm sure the viewing public is sick of all these reality shows. This show has grit, Gena Davis is exceptional. The entire cast is exceptional, what can I say Donald Sutherland is great.
TutorReach This was my favorite TV drama when it was on. It was an exciting hour! Geena Davis was PERFECT in the role of Commander in Chief -- we were so lucky that she stooped to television to play this role. The story lines were compelling and I was often on the edge of my seat as if I were watching some sort of adventure/thriller and not a political drama. The supporting cast were awesome. The story lines not only reflected history or current events but possible future scenarios in world affairs. We all know Washington is a full of people with the highest and lowest motives, and that it is a hotbed of public and private intrigue and drama. This show didn't shy away from that one bit. I loved every minute of it! I was so disappointed and dumbfounded when it was cancelled -- it seemed to me without warning. If they can't make a go of it again as a TV series, then they should definitely make a movie!
hugochavez-1 This was an awesome show I was so sad when it got canceled. It is too bad that more people didn't watch it, it was worth it alone to see Donald Sutherland's performance because he was really amazing in this show and his character was so fascinating and just great. Geena Davis was also really good as the woman who becomes the first female U.S. president out of circumstance without actually being elected, that itself is a really good premise for a show and I thought this show was great and different. I hope it comes out on DVD because I either missed some shows or it just never finished airing on TV. Too bad it didn't get another year at least!
