GetPapa Far from Perfect, Far from Terrible
TeenzTen An action-packed slog
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
J Bo Like a train wreck....but I just had to watch it through the end of the first season. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I am no quitter. I am all about "willing suspension of disbelief", but someone please consult a biologist to get a few salient facts about transmission of disease. THERE SIMPLY IS NO WAY DEAD BODIES ARE NOT STILL INFECTIOUS! And our hero cop without any personal protective equipment can just simply cremate them in the hospital incinerator. But all of the cops finally sent in to the cordon develop the disease despite having minimal contact with anyone on the inside. Sure a lone doctor in a hospital will find a cure for the disease with limited resources.I can be equally disillusioned by FEMA's mishandling of Hurricane Katrina in the real world, but there is no way this would have been a local event for more than 24 hours. The National Guard and FEMA would have been on the scene much earlier, and food dispensed much sooner. Yeah, just wait until people are starving and then let the gangs take over. Just like they quarantined the cops they could have quarantined the healthy and removed them from the area after the 48 hour containment didn't work out as planned. I could go on and on with the inconsistencies and still watched, but when you kill off one of the main protagonists, I can't. I thought for sure we were going to find out that the drug she was on was going to be the cure or at least protective against the virus. Sadly, no. sheesh! So, I'm done, after investing about 10 hours of my life in this drivel....I won't be returning for season 2.
alissarios-100 I started this show the other day because I was sick and in need of a binge watch. The pilot episode was pretty good, some of the acting was questionable and there were a few over the top clichés, but the premise was interesting and I wanted to see where the show went. I only got three episodes in before I started skim watching the episodes. This entire season could've been trimmed down to about five episodes, they were so full of ridiculous filler and clichés. The pregnant girlfriend, unlikely love interest, lovers separated by the wall, kid being bratty but the show disguised it as bravery, all of the crazies come out. It was ridiculous. What makes shows great is the realism within the fantasy world, and this show had none of that. None of the characters acted like normal humans. The acting was bad, the premise spiraled into chaos, I have no clue how this show got good ratings on Netflix. Don't waste your time with this show.
wilza76 I actually really enjoyed this show - I blitzed it over the course of a week. I don't usually write reviews, however after all the negativity I'm seeing when reading the reviews of this show I felt it was worth giving my side of the story as some of the criticism is just unfair. This was recommended to me by my CIO and my sister who both loved it. I'm definitely a TV series addict and had run out of good shows to watch so gave this a shot. If i'm not grabbed by the first few episodes I never stick it out. This show kept me till the end. For a show only lasting one season I was surprised how well they managed to get the viewer to buy into the lead characters. That's down to both great acting and good writing. I thought the delivery was great and there were no boring/flat filler episodes unlike some shows with ten times the budget (GOT). I've seen the reviews criticising white male bashing and liberalism - what a joke. One of the leads was a white male who I thought was the true star of the show. There was 1 ten min scene in the whole show about police brutality - wake up - it happens - the show didn't spend 13 episodes on that, it was 10 mins and i thought it was dealt with well. Some people just do not like to see a black lead in a show, and that says more about them than it does the show. To add to that, I hadn't seen Lex (the main lead) before and I thought he was very believable, poised and played the lead very well. He carried the show with the right level of decision/indecision, always right/too often wrong, which made it true to life. I have to say, episode 11 - just wow - one of the most touching episodes I've seen in a show (and trust me I've seen a lot!) - really surprised this hasn't been talked about more in the reviews. WHAT GREAT ACTING!!!!!!! congrats to everyone involved in that episode. really well done. When an episode has you thinking about it days, weeks after you've seen it, now that's great TV. Thank you.All in all the only thing that disappointed me was the ending. Too many loose ends, a slight 'is that it? is there another episode i'm unaware of?' feeling. I expected the book to be closed but they have left it open ended. My sister liked this approach to the ending. I was not so pleased. They could have had another season now that the Corden has a new addition and see how that played out while they try to refine the cure. Also they could have developed the story about how it was managed from the outside now the evil witch has been relived of her duties lolstill - all in all really enjoyed the show and have recommended it to all searching for a new show to watch.
blackdiamond I tried really hard to like this show, but just found myself frustrated with it over and over again. The writers go through insane acrobatics to place characters in situations that, frankly, anyone with half a brain would've avoided easily from the beginning.Almost no one follows the rules! I know, I know, people are dumb, but not *everyone* is *that* stupid. Many of the characters pivot 180 degrees and back. There is very little in the way of consistent characterization. There are so many factual errors as well. This being set in Atlanta was distracting to me because they got so many little details only about half right. And the dialogue was often ridiculous. Stilted, melodramatic... just bad. It's a shame as there were some quality actors involved, and the basic story, while nothing terribly original, could've been handled decently.
