Synopsis

Jules Cobb is a mom in her forties facing the often humorous challenges, pitfalls and rewards of life's next chapter. Along for the journey is her son, her ex-husband, her husband/neighbor and her friends who together make up her dysfunctional, but supportive and caring extended family... even if they have a funny way of showing it sometimes.

Reviews

Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Marcio Costa The show takes that ultra happiness found in "Friends" and "Scrubs" and takes it to 1000. It is extremely boring and sugar coated. There is always someone ready with a guitar to sing one quick improvised tune about making a friend feel better. There are "bromances", to the point of being disgusting: A grown person skips work and spends a week's pay to arrange for an evening surprise, to make his (or her) friend feel a little better. The reason for the sadness? something silly or plain dumb.I found Scrubs to be passable (because of great acting and atmosphere), I disliked Friends, but I respected both shows as great ones, for their aimed public. But this cougar town is almost offensive. The cracks and little jokes shared by the characters in the show are horrible. Those who thought Christa Miller and Courtney Cox would be cougars in the town, missed. Those who expected a spin off of Friends or Scrubs, are getting only the silly part of the deal. Those who watched what would be a whole new show, saw good actors acting old school foolish.
Ephee . So.. let me start by saying, when hubby and I started watching Cougar Town, we were already white. Now, we're albinos! This is a totally "WHITE PEOPLE's PROBLEMS" series, and I'm not sure Lawrence is this much of a republican, or if he's actually trolling republicans this much! The women in this show are completely and utterly insane with insecurities and false pretences. They draw the image of the 40+ bimbo that lives in a rich suburb, doesn't really work (we only see them work in maaaaybe one episode of each season), and all they do, is act like socially accepted alcoholics with -somehow- lots of money, and no education to back that up. Message received ladies. I can get knocked up at 21, and still make it to a Prada purse and wearing high heels 24/7! Well one can, but not by being a realtor. An occupation where one spins around a pole half naked, is much more likely in real life. Not to mention, her outrageous reactions and bad acting just made her the female equivalent of Nicolas Cage in my head. But that's just me.Jules (Cox) seems to be the typical white trash mom that smothers her son with attention, when at the same time she's being haunted by her guilt for having younger boyfriend/s. They expect the males of the gang to put up with any insane demand they pose, and keep up with their insecurities and fears for the sake of eventually having some charity sex. Awww! What these women do?☺ Have wine. ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. They might reluctantly swallow a sleeping pill every once in a while, but they can put wine away, as if grapes were going extinct! ☺ Wear tacky jewelry/shoes/clothes that seem inappropriate for the occasion/age, yet they think they can pull it off.☺ When Jules' 30 ounce wine glass breaks, they're giving it a funeral. And, no, this is not a once only thing.☺ They passionately hate books. They hate books so much, they're slapping them out of people's hands! (WoW, THAT was a surprise!)☺ They are religious. They believe in god, to the extend of actually thinking their prayers can alter results of situations, and their faith is so stubborn they will force it down anyone's throat. (yeah, i was shocked too..)On the plus side, the male characters are the one bit, if you have any sense of reason in your head, you'd look forward to watching. The gags and adolescent behaviour is making them so funny, it's a wonder anyone would put up with these crazy bitches.I'm kind of having mixed feelings for the constant Scrubs references. OK Mr Lawrence, you also made Scrubs. Could we all just get over it now and move on? Dwelling on the triumphs of the past doesn't make everything you do a masterpiece. And btw? There are some 40+ women that wouldn't even consider having an expressionless face just to get rid of some wrinkles. I'm guessing the amount of botox in Cougar Town, must have been a wholesale supply.
Dylan olde Keizer first of all, sorry for my grammar.I'm a huge series lover, like Glee,Friends, Seinfield and Scrubs. Sitcoms are hard to do, the ones who do Best is Friends, Seinfield and Big Bang Theorie. Cougar Town is very original. It doesn't have nerds involved or much break ups and crying scenes which most of the series do. I has made it own standard of humor. Jules, which is a single mom is just amazing. Which mom says '' Heres your laundry, I used lavender because I know how you like to smell as a B*tch , I'm out '' to her sun..... That is original. Eli, which is by far my favorite character in the show, is an sarcastic woman, very sarcastic. And Laurie, well , I think she is over-acting, yes its a bad thing, not everything can be good, but her humor (scripted of course) Is so much fun! At every time I watch a episode I just have to tweet one of the many quotes they say. Its an awesom series and It deserves for sure more then just 7 stars. I think the problem with series is they are compared, compared and compared. I used to do it with Friends which I've seen too many times. And one day, when I said to myself, I'm gonna give Cougar Town a shot and go open minded, I felt everything was new, like if it was the first sitcom ever! Courtney does a wonderful job and so as well as the rest of the cast. I think this is one of the best shows ever and should not be canceled ( so I've hear ).Still my number one stays Friends, and this show comes as third. Walking Dead as second (: I hope I convinced you to see at least the first season so you could change your mind.
jan2547 ... I have nothing much to say about this sitcom , but i can say it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I didn't watch the whole show, only the first 5 episodes and it was bad. In one episode it made me laugh once, maybe twice. For me, a comedy show must be hilarious all the time, not only for 2 moments per episode. This is just a sad attempt to be funny. It was also boring as hell. Not only is the show not funny, it's written so badly it's embarrassing. Maybe it's a good show for some people, but i don't think there are much men who like this. Too bad that i'm a man i guess ...
