Synopsis

Dog the Bounty Hunter was an American reality television series on A&E which chronicled Duane "Dog" Chapman's adventures as a fugitive recovery agent, or bounty hunter. With a few exceptions, the series took place in Hawaii or Dog's home state of Colorado. On May 21, 2012, A&E cancelled the series after eight seasons, citing the popular phrase: "Every dog has its day".

Lachlan Coulson This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
Jemima It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
chucknorrisfacts "Dog the Bounty Hunter" is a reality-TV show on the A&E network. It's about a family of bounty hunters who primarily operate out of Hawaii and sometimes work in the continental United States. The family patriarch, Duane "Dog" Chapman, is the centerpiece of the show. He takes viewers both in his home and "on the hunt" for fugitives from justice. The show can be enjoyable to watch at times but largely it's pretty boring. Most shows are spent building a lot of anticipation about catching a criminal that either they don't find because the police picked them up first, or they do find but the action is either minimal or over all too quickly.I wonder why they even air episodes like that. I mean, who wants to watch a whole show about bounty hunters where they don't catch the criminal? That's boring! Maybe they do it to show that it's "real life" and that sometimes the "bad guy" gets away. I can understand doing this on some level but it's not very entertaining to watch. You end up making it to the end of the episode feeling cheated, if you even make it through to the end.
walsh-22 Before I watched Dog the Bounty Hunter, I had seen a lot of bounty hunters' stories and they did not put them in a positive light, they were shown as bullies and people who would invade houses with no respect to the owners.Along came Dog and I saw a different side to them. Dog and his family are amazing, they are the strongest people I have ever seen, they go through a lot of challenges and the reason they stay strong is they make family everything. They are there for one another and they may argue but they are a very close family and it is lovely to see. I do laugh at Duane Lee and Leland acting like little kids at times and Beth showing Dog who is boss. There are some really funny moments in the programmes.I think the reason Dog is so popular with everyone is the way he treats people especially the people down on their luck who are into drugs and have no-one to turn to. He doesn't just capture them and send them to jail but he tries to get through to them, to show them he understands what they are going through because he went through it himself and he tries to get them to see how pointless it is what they are doing to themselves. I have to admit, I have tears in my eyes at times because they are not bad people, they have just lost their way. Dog is always offering them cigarettes, food or drink before they go to the jail. He also has respect for the family/friends and will ask them if he can go in their homes, he will take the time to have their love ones speak to them or hug them before they have to go to jail. He is such a good man as well as the other members of the team: Beth, Tim, Leland and Duane Lee.Shame on the Mexican authorities for putting Dog, Tim and Leland in prison. I was very angry with them as they did a good thing capturing Andrew Luster. I also have to say Shame on some of the law authorities that came down on Dog and his gang. They have no right, at least he cares about the people he has to capture and tries to help them before they are put in jail so they have some nerve looking down their noses at what Dog does. That's my rant over.I just love the show and can't get enough of it.
aca-paul OK, This guy is a dirt bag. He may claim to be some kind of "Born Again Christian" By cleaning up society, but the very people he goes after are those that JC hung out with. His background in any type of criminal/subculture labels him as a RAT/SNITCH/PUNK-ASS BITCH! If this clown were ever to show up in my neck of the woods, I would do all that I could to ruin his day and mess up his "hunting". HEY DOG!, IF YOU CAN CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE THAT WHAT YOU DO IS MORALY RIGHT, PLEASE DO SO! UNTIL THEN, KNOW THAT I AM YOUR ENEMY AND THAT WE WILL MEET IF YOU EVER SHOW UP IN MY TOWN......Yeah, i'd like to see a lot of tweekers, rapoes and cho-mo's kept behind bars and away from society and I don't think the police are able to do their job the way they should, but the way you come across on TV is wrong and again, if that is your true portrayal then you and I should never be in the same town at the same time.
terulian_maveric Okay, first off, before I get to reviewing, I've done my research. Duane "Dog" Chapman was arrested and convicted for being an accessory to murder-1, that is, he was present and didn't stop another member of the gang he was then a member of, the Devil's Disciples, from murdering that person. He was in for 5 years, and got out on probation after helping stop a prison break. To the poster whom said that he's not a legal bounty hunter, all you did was post the laws in your particular state, I'm guessing, on what qualifications you need to be a bounty hunter. To the person who said that bounty hunters are supposed to kill... no. Too much Star Wars for you. Boba Fett's line of work was more along the lines of "Assassin". In the real world, a bounty hunter is hired by a bail bondsman to go collect criminals who fail to appear in court. In some cases, they're considered to be law enforcement officials, which means that they get full co-operation from local law enforcement. As for another poster who asked about him going after Osama, he's been quoted as saying he would go for him if the US Government would put him on the case. Now, as for the illegal capture, he went to Mexico to capture a rapist, and since bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, he broke a law, but wouldn't catching a rapist be worth it? I think so.Anyway, this show follows the work of Dog and his family. Wife by common law marriage, Beth, sons Leland and Duane Lee (as of season 2), and "brother" Tim (there's no actual relation), and the Dog himself go out and apprehend fugitives. He's very successful, probably due to the camera not showing when he's missed his marks. I think that many episodes show a great insight into the flaws of the criminal justice system, because they do exist. It's really a good show, if you like the sort of real-life action that comes from bounty hunting and catching fugitives.
