This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

I was looking through the reviews for this show and honestly I'm legitimately surprised that people are giving such poor reviews off of the common complaint of repetition among other things. So to start off you guys are looking at this through your own point of view and are not looking at this through the eyes of a child. Yes many, if not all the episodes are are basically the same thing with a small change but something you should do is ask your children if they enjoy it.I simply say this because it seems like so many people are being harsh on the show even though it was made for YOUNG children between the ages of around 3 - 5. Looking at the show as an adult and yes it is obviously going to seem boring and repetitious. And yes I know there are much better children's shows but honestly Dora is NOT a bad show. I'm 19, turning 20 in a month and I remember watching the show when it first came out and loved it.

I am shocked by the number of bad reviews. Dora is an excellent role model as well as all the other characters on the show. Let's start with Swiper the Fox since many of the reviews demonize him. First, he will try to steal (swipe) something from someone but Dora says, "Swiper no swiping" so he will snap his fingers, say "Aww, man" and leave. Compared to other depictions of thieves (being scared and letting them steal), Dora stays calm and faces the situation head-on. My oldest is almost three which is when fear starts manifesting. She says randomly, "Swiper's going to get me!" I tell her that she needs to tell Swiper no swiping which she does and then she's confident that she's safe. I'm sure the generic "monsters" are coming next. But she will have the confidence to handle them, too. I like that just by telling Swiper not to steal he actually listens (another quality I want my kids needs to learn).I like the songs. They are short and are easy to learn. I like that the plot follows the same pattern. Kids love and need repetition. If you've ever read anything or even watched something by a child expert (I'm thinking SuperNanny) they will all tell you that kids like consistency. This show is geared toward preschoolers, not middle schoolers. At that age, kids don't need complicated plots. There's a structure to the show which my kids are able to follow.I love that the show is not about conflict but about adventures. In the book NurtureShock, by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman, they talk about when kids watch a show about bullying the show spends 20 minutes showing a bully being mean to kids and the last few minutes resolving the problem. Sounds great, right? No because kids have spent 20 minutes learning how to be a bully and that's the message they are absorbing. I don't let my kids watch Spongebob because the "jokes" they say are not things I want my kids repeating. Dora and her friends go on adventures and help others. That's what I want my kids to have: a sense of adventure, a sense of compassion and confidence to handle anything.

I have tried to like Dora the Explorer, as I am all for educational shows. For example Tots TV, Sesame Street and Rosie and Jim were educational and all three of them I loved as a kid because they were also a lot of fun. As an 18 year old girl, I kept in consideration that this was a kids show, but sorry I don't like it. The first problem and my major problem with Dora the Explorer is that it is too repetitive. The scripting, the music, the story lines... they felt the same in every episode. Another problem is that I for one don't find it educational, there was an episode when Dora I think counted to ten in Spanish. Kids will definitely find that educational, but for someone who studied Spanish for two years, I couldn't help rolling my eyes at something I already knew. Then the story lines are unoriginal for the most part, the music is forgettable(to me that is though I do appreciate that they were keeping it simple for kids to remember, but I personally felt they went overboard with the simplicity), the characters are thin, the writing is shallow and for me the voice acting was unexceptional. On a plus, the animation was nice to look at, simple but colourful and bright. Overall, sorry but I don't like it, kids will love it but being older it doesn't appeal to me. 1/10 for the animation. This has got to be one of the worst shows for little kids ever created, up there with "Ni Hao Kai Lan" and "Go Diego Go". My little brother LOVES this stupid show though, which is OK for a 3 year old, but I hate this show for a few reasons.One- Dora yells nonstop. OK we get that you want to get to the stupid blueberry tree so shut up already. That's basically like me writing LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME.Two- The Swiper scenes. Dora tells your child to say "Swiper no swiping!" and 95% of the time he stops in his tracks and says "Oh man!" If a robber ever tried to steal something from you if you said "no swiping" like they would really stop? NO. How unrealistic and dangerous to teach little kids.Three- The plot is just stupid. Here's the plot for every episode. Dora plans to do something. Dora needs to figure out something or get something from a place far away. Dora does mindless tasks to do whatever she wants to do. That's it. Curtains. How lame is that? Therefore, you should not watch this show, and if you have a choice between watching this show for a whole day and burning yourself with fire, pick the burning. That will be more fun than even glancing at this horrible show.-5,000,000,000,000,000,000 out of 10 or: F--------------------
