Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Calum Hutton
It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

To anyone who may be thinking of watching Eastwick,I won't presume to tell you what you should and should not watch, but I do with to warn you in advance. SPOILER. There is no reasonable excuse for the depiction of rape by Joanna Frankel (Lindsay Price) in episode 8 (Paint and Pleasure). In the afore mentioned episode Frankel forces (ie. against his will) a man to have sex with her in order to make herself feel better about herself. Later it is revealed that the man is is a happily married gay man, and her rape will likely result in the end of said marriage. The show treats this horrific event as light-hearted humor. You have been warned

ABC has hit it out of the park with their new Wednesday night line up and Eastwick is a great way to cap it off. The three women are perfect in their roles and Paul Gross is so damn sexy, good and perhaps evil at the same time. I loved him in Due South and its great to see him back on TV again. For a pilot this was great, I loved the cast and cared about them by the end and the story lines can go anywhere. I can't wait for this Wednesday night. Good family fare and I hope ABC gives all of the new Wednesday night shows a chance to find their groove, loved Cougar Town and Modern Family as well. Finally some decent TV and no reality shows! I hate them!

I've read the very good book and seen the pretty decent film and now have tried the not so good TV show Eastwick. It looks to be more targeted at a female audience and has echoes of Desperate Housewives in the initial female voice-over. It also seems to be missing a decent script and suffered from so-so acting. None of the main characters are particularly good. There are also far too many characters although this being TV means that some characters will probably get exposure and story time they don't merit. That said if people don't know either the book or the film then it's light probably passable but really not that good.

I liked it. It was fun, a little over the top at times ( a little desperate housewives at times if you know what I mean - and I am not a fan of desperate housewives ) but entertaining. I like the suspense of Van Horne. I like the women opening up and becoming more than boring or usual. I think if it continues to be more silly than true fantasy then it will not succeed. I certainly will lose interest. I mean when the husband falls off the hammock and blames her - it is not at all likely and therefore completely unbelievable. I wonder if the husband actor was actually conflicted having to repeat those lines "how did you do that". Please get better! I like the concept and story and hope the show will be worthy of all our attention. C'Mon Rebecca! Push for good writers!
