Synopsis

Based on the blockbuster films, this action-packed animated series starts a decade after the original Ghostbusters saved New York City from ghosts, goblins and ghouls. All the guys have left town, except Egon, now teaching a Paranormal Studies class at the local university. But Zuul, the all-powerful demon, has awakened from hibernation to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting masses. Desperate to recruit a new team, Egon and the plucky Janine turn to four of his teenage students: Kylie, a genius with an encyclopedic knowledge of the occult; Eduardo, a hip slacker with a crush on Kylie; Garrett, a wheelchair-bound athlete with a hot temper; and Roland, a “gentle giant” mechanical whiz. It's only a matter of time before Egon, Janine, old pal Slimer and the “kids” band together to rid the city of the evildoers.

Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
Benas Mcloughlin Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
Sienna-Rose Mclaughlin The movie really just wants to entertain people.
DarthBill Long delayed sequel to "The Real Ghostbusters" picks up in the late 1990s, the original/Real Ghostbusters - Venkman, Stantz, Egon and Winston - have long since disbanded, seeing as how they eventually ran out of ghosts to bust and went their separate ways. Only Egon returns, now in his late 30s/early 40s, still living in the firehouse to monitor the containment unit, continue his study of the paranormal and working as a university teacher. When evil ghosts make a comeback, Egon recruits his students as new Ghostbusters, sporting a new look and a "hip" attitude; also returning are Slimer as their sidekick and Janine Melnitz as the secretary and Egon's love interest. The new kids are in no particular order - Garrett - a wheelchair bound extreme sports enthusiast who took Egon's class hoping he could hear stories about Egon's days as a Ghostbuster, having been an admirer of the Ghostbusters all his life. Garrett is kind of meant to be the "Ray Stantz" figure with his energetic enthusiasm for his work and overall lust for life, though I'm still not sure a guy in a wheelchair can chase ghosts.Eduardo - a cynical Hispanic slacker with a heart of gold buried deep beneath his sarcasm. He is clearly meant to be the "Peter Venkman" figure with his smart ass attitude. Had an unresolved love/hate relationship with Kylie. (trivia note: Eduardo is voiced by Rhino Romano, who later voiced Batman/Bruce Wayne on "The Batman") Kylie - the only female member of the team, something of a Goth girl and the only one on the team to have any real understanding of the paranormal, which I guess makes her the "Egon Spengler" figure even though Egon himself is still around. Had a love/hate relationship going on with Eduardo.Roland - a young black man who happens to be a mechanical genius and likable naive laid back kind of guy. Clearly meant to be the "Winston Zeddemore" figure, as Roland is black and from what we see the most "normal" of the new G-busters. (voiced by Carlton, Will Smith's cousin on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air").Obviously meant to be "The Next Generation" of the Ghostbusters mythos, and while I admit EX-GB did have its moments of greatness - usually provided by either Egon or Janine or both - it could never quite capture the magic of "The Real Ghostbusters", of which it was hopelessly trapped in the shadow of. One of the better episodes was without doubt the one where Venkman (Dave "Full House" Coulier, the second Venkman voice after the late Lorenzo "Garfield" Music), Ray (Frank Welker) and Winston (Buster Jones, the 2nd Winston after Arsenio Hall) came back to visit Egon and celebrate his birthday, thus giving us the old school VS new school and then ultimately join school team up.
Rectangular_businessman I always have been a big fan of the movie "Ghostbusters" directed by Ivan Reitman, and I think that this show is a great addition to that world. The storyline takes place some years later and the atmosphere and the stories were darker than in the movies or in the first TV-show, but that is good. In "Extreme Ghostbusters" new team of young ghost-busters have to deal with some of the most terrifying creatures and villains, in a series which combines perfectly well the seriousness with some effective moments of comedy. The new stories are quite good and interesting, showing a great character development in each episode. And the animation, without being great, keeps a good level during the whole series, having some cool designs of characters and monsters.Without being a masterpiece, "Extreme Ghostbusters" is the perfect proof of how a classic franchise could be updated without losing the main essence from it, resulting in something that could be enjoyed by new viewers and fans of the original stuff as well.
brickiller Technically speaking, this series represents very high end stuff and the developers have made themselves assure top notch and ground breaking quality in each and every sector such as screenplay, writing, animation style and quality, direction and voice. It is quite difficult to make out whether those sectors were engineered specifically like that or whether the quality just comes out of natural talent? The latter point is possibly reinforced through inclusion of many veteran directors, writers, designers, developers and producers in the development team. Indeed, it is quite a large gathering of veterans. But besides all these technical strengths, the real strong point of this show are its characters who one can find deeply interesting, cool, likable and realistic. Two of them have been moved in from the previous series and they too, get a fresh life. All the mentioned elements blend very nicely to make a superb viewing experience which probably earns its fans some bragging rights.
vansepe Brilliant in every way and something to treasure deeply. Lovely characters, especially Kylie. However, I must react to two stupid comments made, comparing this unfavourably against the original. If you've never seen the original series as a prepubescent, you'll never understand why people even want to compare the older one with the newer one, which is ten generations ahead in every single way in terms of quality? However, you may be victim to a differing and skewed perspective if you did. While the older series titled "The Real Ghostbusters" aka RGB derived a lot of success from the popularity of the GB-1 and 2 movies through offering continuity, this series distances itself from that original theme and introduces a brand new set of characters and new atmosphere. Older one was a fantasy but this ones closer to reality. The heart and engine running both series remains the same (for which I guess, we should credit Richard Raynis most) but the front ends are completely different. This may have invited harsh reactions from a few original fans but I wish to quote someone else who did a review on the Ghostbusters movie page,------------------------------------------------------------ The premise of "Ghostbusters" is cool, too. We want to be transported into a world in which there are ghostbusters of this kind, so much so that we're prepared to overlook the fact that we're watching fumbled comedy rather than successful fantasy. ------------------------------------------------------------He is of course, talking about the perspective of an 8 year old. The perspective of an 8 year old or any pre-pubescent blissfully enjoying the RGB series and the perspectives of the same grown man watching the same series cannot be the same. At the most, it can be blissful short term nostalgia. Add this disappointment to the fact that a superior series was derived through replacing the original favourites and making a lot of changes, one will start to feel cheated. So what would one do?React sharply and choose to ignore reality? Yes. If a complete and utter fool willing to soak his mind in the darkness of ignorance. Or choose to embrace reality instead of your own skewed perspective? Any smart person would. The solution has been well formulated as XGB, the modernised and mature side of Ghostbusting which should appeal to any fan of the empire. XGB was never marketed as a fantasy comedy anyway, but a thriller bordering on horror themes. Yet they've maintained some of the RGB charm. One must not let pre-pubescent emotional attachments with RGB rob one of common sense. In other words, XGB is the magnum opus and best effort in the Ghostbusting empire. RGB is not. It is old and it is a classic but its history and obsolete. While XGB is what the creators and need I mention, that these guys are veterans, have to be more proud of, the biggest flaw is the lack of depth, simply due to this series being restricted to just 40 episodes. As a 4 season show, the RGB offered much greater depth, even if replete with filler episodes. One must however not take into account such stuff like "Junior Ghostbusters" and "Slimer! and the RGB" which were just nonsense spin-offs.PS The animation was brilliant and not like other Sony cartoons. Jtalledo is a lying idiot.
