Admirable film.
Catangro
After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Freeman
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

All three seasons are great. I loved how the show turned a decent movie into a incredibly intricate series. Of course it is not perfect and there are slow spots but otherwise this is an great series from start to finish and everything about it works for me. I would highly recommend this series. The basic premise is the same for the movie. Two bank robbing brothers kidnap a family to get over the border into Mexico to meet their contact where they end up in a battle of life and death. What the show does is add a few characters most notably the Texas Ranger who fatefully gets put in their path. Season 2 and 3 go off in different directions and have people debating on if they are as good as the first but they work for me. I loved them just as much as the first season because they continue the tale a way that makes sense and and finally end it in a way that is acceptable to me. I would recommend this to almost anyone.

From Dusk to Dawn was an annoying movie, containing a brilliant, first half - a gritty crime drama - and then taking a bizarre left turn into the supernatural, as though an entirely different movie had been grafted on.The series essentially fixed the movie's problems. It retained the gritty intensity, but it introduced the supernatural early, rather than springing it on the viewer in mid-stride, and the result was very satisfying. The second season was a continuation of the first, but was decidedly a lesser creation. There was a lot of weirdness in the first season, with strange visions and a lot of weirdness, and in season 2 most of that's gone, making it basically a standard crime show with vampires. While I made it to the end of the season, I found myself increasingly disinterested, and didn't even bother checking out season three.Rating is for season 1. That's well worth watching. After that, I wouldn't bother.

It is nothing at all like the movies. And I do mean nothing. There are no similarities. It is much more like Supernatural than From Desk Till Dawn. But even then, there are limits because the actors aren't nearly as charming, attractive and magnetic as Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. The stories aren't nearly as interesting. Basically... it's something to watch. Take up your time. I'm at a complete loss as to how in the world this show has such high ratings. It's as simple, and as sad, as that. Next time, the creators might like to think up a new name.
