Purely Joyful Movie!

Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

As per my other reviews on "Children's Horror" (Children's Fair) this series should NOT be compared with its adult counterparts...but, yet, it is!?!? WHY?Children's shows and stories of all sorts always get trashed by adult reviewers who compare them to their own adult shows and stories. Reasonably, and, simply, you cannot compare this series (geared for little children) with the likes of "Tales From The Crypt;" "The Twilight Zone;" "Tales From The Darkside;" "The X Files;" etc. because it doesn't scare or intrigue adults! That's reasonably and simply stupid! This series ("Goosebumps") is for little kids...the others I mentioned are for older teens and adults. Anyone comparing "Goosebumps" to these others, and, I've read the comments, is being unfair and uneducated. I'd be nice if a seven-year-old would comment, but, it's always adults!?!? It's like comparing "H.R. Pufnstuf" to "Jurassic Park" because they both have dinosaurs; or, "Scooby Doo, Where Are You" to "Cujo" because they're both about a dog!?!? STUPID!I had a girlfriend years ago whose little son watched this (and, read the books). Being curious and never hearing of the series, I asked about it. She told me that "It's monster stories for little kids."Then, years later, when my own Son began watching this, I took a particular interest and watched with him.YES! They're not at all scary nor nail-biting...for an adult. However...they're great short-stories with 'just enough' fright to interest a young child. That's a great thing!I started my Son out with "The Teletubbies" when he was tiny (Science-Fiction for kiddies). Then came "Scooby Doo" (with cartoon monsters and ghosts). Then it was "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" and "The Little Rascals" (both have creative stories for children). Then it went to this, that, and, the other thing which eventually brought me here to "Goosebumps."People (adults) write bad comments about "Goosebumps" - 'bad acting;' 'not scary;' 'terrible props;' 'lousy effects;' 'silly stories;' etc. But...do you really believe that little kids care about all of that!?!? Little kids don't see any of that, they just love the show! Does that count? It should. If you're an opinionated and rotten adult (or, parent) who can't see beyond his/her own expectations and immature selfishness in lieu of a child; and, that this is a "KIDS" horror series and scary and exciting for them...you shouldn't even comment at all!As a responsible adult, this show doesn't scare me at all, and, I give it "SIX STARS!" (I cannot think below a 'six-star' level when children are involved!).Yet...as a Dad who gradually brought his own Son into loving horror and Science-Fiction, and, "Goosebumps" was one of those gradual steps, I sincerely give this series (and, the books) a solid "TEN STARS!"When adults review a children's show...review it as if you are a child, not an adult! It makes much more sense, and, it's much more fair! :)

This is a excellent TV series that is based on the books by R.L. Stein. It originally ran for 4 seasons (74 episodes) from 1995 to 1998 and was filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Almost all of the episodes are based off the books with a exception for the episode "More Monster Blood". Many episodes are two part episodes but some are stand alone. My favorites are "The Haunted Mask" where a teen girl wants to scare to teen boys she knows so she buys a Halloween mask from a old costume shop and when she puts it on she can't get it off, and "Welcome to Dead House" where a family moves to a town called Dark Falls only to find out that the townspeople were killed by a nuclear power plant accident. I also enjoyed "One Day at Horrorland" where a family goes to a scary theme park.Anyway, Goosebumps used to be my favorite series and i used to tape the episodes off TV and watch them, lol.If you like scary stories aimed at teens then give Goosebumps a try. you might like it. I give it a 10/10.

The Goosebumps book/TV series were a big part of my childhood. I enjoyed both; I can still remember getting up every Saturday morning to watch the show. Goosebumps was definitely one of the better shows of the 90's.Unfortunately there were many flaws with the series.First of all, the acting. Words cannot describe how terrible the acting really is. To say that it was appalling is only putting it mildly. I have worked on films made by university students, and even they have better acting. Apart from Ryan Gosling (who hasn't really improved at all as an actor) and the one who ended up playing Annikan Skywalker (who is actually a pretty good actor) the other actors and actresses have either sunk without trace or are acting in mediocre TV shows. God knows why and how they are still being hired.Second, the inaccuracy of the episodes. Many of the episodes were unfaithful to the books in certain ways. Some of these adaptations actually worked (a good example of this would be "Be Careful What You Wish For", and I actually didn't mind the Haunted Mask 1 and 2- those floating masks scared the hell out of me). Another episode I enjoyed was "The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight", as well as "The Werewolf of Fever Swamp" and "Phantom of the Auditorium".However, many of the adaptations were so bad that it was almost excruciating. They just didn't work at all. "The Ghost Next Door" was such an example. However, in certain ways, the episode is set up better than the book. Please don't get me started on "The Headless Ghost"... That was awful. Even the main characters are changed, in terms of looks. For example, in "The Ghost Next Door" (the book version), the main character has blonde hair. But in the TV version, she is a brunette.Third, the effects. They were just awful, and the monsters looked like they were made out of play dough. I know that this doesn't count as an "effect", but the Canadian accents were almost as irritating as the acting.Lastly, the fact that a lot of the better books were never made into episodes. "Ghost Camp", a personal favourite of mine, was never made into an episode, despite the fact that it could have been extremely easy to make. "Legend of the lost legend" and "The Haunted School" could have worked as well.Despite all of these flaws, the series was entertaining, (semi) scared me- I can still remember the intro with the infamous dog, and I can remember the evil potato monster at the end of "It Came From Beneath the Sink!". It was definitely one of my favourite childhood shows and deserves recognition as one of the best shows of the 90's. 6 out of 10 from me!

Where do I start with this? I'm a huge fan of both the book and show, heres why. Growing up in the 90s, there was every kind of show a kid could love. Both live action and animated, there was much to offer, Ren and Stimpy, Clarissa explains it all, Freakaziod, the Tick, etc. One stood out to me. Goosebumps, I had read some of the books and when I saw the TV show, I fell in love with the series. The characters are super cliché, the dialogue is delightfully cheesy, and the monsters are really cool. My favorite monsters are the horror land creatures, Slappy, the Scarecrow, and the Mummy. This is truly a classic 90s show in every way. I would watch this every weekend, and even bring the tapes to my day care. In sort, this is one of the best shows from the 90s, and makes me miss fox kids even more. There used to be a show for everybody, now thats just a thing of the past.
