I hope there is a third season, I don't think I could live without it. The storyline is so unexpected and moving. It is like life. You can understand what is going on in the characters and they seem to have cast the best actors in the world. I feel the Sergeant's sorrow and yet you also feel her strength when she walks into work or into a situation that could be the end of everything. Makes me want to be like her. More, please, more.

Incredibly heartfelt. A true binge-worthy series. Each characters narrative is so multifaceted.. you hate the antagonist yet you feel for him.. you love the heroine yet she makes you truely angry. The creator of this series understands the human spirit in all its complexities and that good/evil can and never will exist in a vacuum.

Sarah Lancashire, as good as they come, is BACK where she belongs, on her OWN SHOW, daring to play a Cumber Valley police sergeant and BRILLIANTLY, supported by a great cast! Crime Plots MIGHT be a bit derivative, but with acting like this, the show is still better than 99% of what's out there. MUST WATCH!

Probably the most ironic title ever, considering how depressing this UK policer is. That said, it features one of the greatest lead characters and performance thereof. Sergeant Catherine Cawood is compelling, believable, heroic, competent, troubled, and utterly human as she goes about her duties in what appears to be a bucolic town that is plagued with all the evils we find in every metropolis today. Her courage, heart, and empathy is the theme of this violent drama, as in many great cop shows, she is the thin blue line against the evil that lurks in the hearts of men and women...
