EP1 Episode 1 Jul 25, 2005

The staff at Yan Oi Hospital take a different view on lives as well as personal values after the SARS outbreak. CHING CHI MEI PAUL is performing a brain operation on a patient who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. As the operation is conducted when the patient is conscious, TSANG SUK KEI BETSY, an O & G (Obstetrics & Gynecology) intern, is present so as to learn from PAUL. Her superior, MAN ON SAN ANSON, is unhappy for her absence from her post without official. A & E (Accident & Emergency) consultant, LAI KWOK CHU HENRY, invites PAUL to her girlfriend, JAN’s, birthday party. HENRY knows then that PAUL is still in contact with his ex-girlfriend, HO SUM YIN. PAUL suspects that a female patient has contracted SARS. Since he is the Acting Executive Director of the hospital, he decides to activate the green alarm system, to block the relevant ward, and to strengthen the preventive measures.… ...

YIN’s elder brother, HO CHI WANG ALAN, points the finger at PAUL. A friend of PAUL’s, TAM YUNG MING EDMOND, happens to know FRANCES as well. PAUL asks EDMOND to give him a helping hand and ask FRANCES if YIN has killed herself. Nevertheless, EDMOND refuses to help him. HEUNG CHUNG YAN CHRIS, an A & E doctor, has a very bad impression on PAUL because he cut off his relationship with YIN on the very day she had an abortion. PAUL is puzzled about YIN’s death and would like to contact her boyfriend, who is in Canada. Cardiac Surgeon LAM MAN CHI MC rents an A-class office to set up his own clinic. The hospital is holding a press conference to inform the public about the sealing-off of the O & G ward. As the press goes after PAUL for YIN’s death, the new Executive Director, TANG TAT YIN TY, chairs the conference on behalf of PAUL.… ...

PAUL takes HENRY to see the old horse that he keeps. He tells HENRY why he bought it; HENRY can understand how he feels. GRACE is eager to find a man whom she can marry. CHRIS is her target. BETSY fails to keep a watchful eye on a girl, who is suspected to have been ill-treated, as told by HENRY. As a result, she is given a good telling-off. MC has lost many patients because of the lawsuit. MC mistakes that YEUNG has stolen PHOEBE’s computer and sold it. He apologizes to YEUNG when he learns about the truth. After carrying out a post-mortem, FRANCES comes to the conclusion that the statement given by the suspect of the family tragedy is not trustful. The suspect loses his control as soon as he hears this. He stops PAUL and others from rescuing his daughter and gets hold of GRACE. CHRIS is nearly killed when he is fighting with the man. Unfortunately, the girl dies. PAUL flies in to a rage and hits the man.… ...

A woman, whose name is AH LING, takes her son to the A & E room. HENRY later knows that her husband is none other than HO TAK KWONG, an old friend of his. KWONG shows his concern for PAUL. As a token of gratitude, GRACE invites CHRIS, who has saved her life, to a dinner. To her disappointment, CHRIS brings ANSON along. He asks GRACE, whose family runs a furniture shop, for discounts. In order to pry into their lives, she grasps the opportunity to visit their place. ANSON sees through her intention. Fearing that his performance will be affected, MC refuses to undergo an operation. His relationships with YEUNG and PHOEBE respectively have been affected inversely as he tries to cover up his pain. The hospital has received complaints against PAUL. TY talks to PAUL about this and accepts his explanation. He also accepts PAUL’s request for taking a long leave. PAUL has been suffering from insomnia recently.… ...

DEREK feels that other people do not show respect to his professional opinion. He vents his anger on PAUL. PAUL has to stay for more observation and treatment. He lists out all his symptoms and gives it to ANGUS with his brain scan result for research. PAUL goes for physiotherapy. It happens that DEREK is the therapist in charge and PAUL finds his attitude towards him strange. Confident that her being younger than ANSON is an advantage, GRACE decides to take away CHRIS from ANSON. HENRY has hurt his backbone. CHRIS tells his elder sister, CHUNG LAM, to give him a massage. Nevertheless, she hurts his neck bone. It further annoys him that SARAH and others have mistaken that he has visited some immoral places. EDMOND has been rather stressed out handling MC’s lawsuit. A patient of SARAH’s requests her to fill in false medical information for him so that he can apply for disability pension. SARAH refuses to do so.… ...

BETSY thanks HENRY for teaching her and for his patience as well. HENRY notices the scars her wrist. CHRIS asks ANSON out but she cannot make it. Hearing their conversation, GRACE makes up an excuse and asks CHRIS to send her home. She also takes photos of CHRIS being with her in the same car. ANSON has discovered the photos. CHRIS tries hard to explain. As a result, he is given a verbal warning by ANSON for covering this up. MC tells EDMOND off for failing to persuade a patient of his to testify in court. MC, who is troubled by his business downfall, acts rather rudely towards his mother. YEUNG complains that MC does not care about grandmother. HENRY witnesses a patient of his, who has made several suicidal attempts in the past, jumps down from the top floor of the hospital. The patient dies eventually. HENRY is really upset about this, yet BETSY shows no sympathy at all. HENRY wonders why she would have such response.… ...

FRANCES finds on a dead body some ointment which does not belong to the deceased. CHIU, the suspect, does not have any record of skin disease either. A man named KAM HO MAN is rushed to the A & E. BETSY suspects that the man is abusing pubic resources. On seeing this, HENRY leads BETSY into telling him her story about the scar on her wrist. He further tells her that she should know better now about the duty of a doctor. MAN yells and demands to leave, yet he changes his mind as soon as he sees BETSY. CHRIS tries to avoid GRACE but only makes the matter worse. What is more, he has upset ANSON for covering things up. MAN goes to see BETSY. As a matter of fact, they know each other already. MAN sneaks out of the hospital. Exhausted, ANGUS collapses. DEREK hits PAUL, insisting that he is the one to be responsible for ANGUS’ blacking out. PAUL tells HENRY why DEREK is hostile to him. He also invites HENRY to visit Europe with him.… ...

MC goes back to Yan Oi Hospital to work. A patient, Grandma HUNG, wants to go home so that she can take care of her old companion, Uncle LUK, who suffers from senile dementia. She demands to be discharged. MC therefore contacts the social worker attached to the hospital. CHRIS listens to the advice of his female colleagues and proposes to ANSON, only to be told that he is not mature enough to get married yet. PHOEBE says that it is selfish for MC to give up his clinic. He retorts with her scandals. LUK has gone missing. HUNG looks everywhere for him. This has enlightened CHRIS and ANSON and they decide to marry each other. MC cannot stand PHOEBE’s scandals anymore and decides to split with her. MC’s mother visits him, who sends her home with the excuse that he is busy. MC fails to attend the appointment with his mother because he is handling some financial matters with PHOEBE.… ...

PAUL is on the roof when he receives a call from FRANCES. He gives up his thought of taking his life. PAUL has left his cell phone on the roof. FRANCES deduces that HENRY was trying to do something foolish when she called. She is even more worried when she sees that PAUL has become bad-tempered. YEUNG shows allergic reaction. As he refuses to speak, MC tells him to list out things that may cause the allergy. BETSY is queried whether she has check her patient’s medical history before she treated him. HENRY vouches for her innocence, yet she still receives a warning. LING is sent to a lunatic asylum pending a sentence. KWONG does not blame her for harming their son, as he knows that she was under the effect of her illness. FRANCES notices that PAUL is emotionally unstable. With her own experience, she advises him to seek medical treatment. He, however, does not appreciate her concern. PAUL has gone missing.… ...

PAUL takes a long leave so that he can go for psychological counseling and cognitive behavior therapy. By using the poker game that he has learnt, he tells FRANCES not to blame herself for disclosing YIN’s life before she died. ANSON suspects that Mrs. HUNG suffers from prenatal depression. An idea occurs to her when she knows that Mrs. Hung is a loyal reader of HENRY, who has a column on a paper. MC expresses to TY his difficulty in communicating with YEUNG. While TY gives him a few words of consolation, he himself has also learnt something. TY mistakes that HENRY is going out with BETSY. HENRY tells BETSY to explain to TY. She thanks him for bringing a breakthrough to the frozen father-and-daughter relationship. An old classmate of Doctor LIU MEI KUEN KAREN’s is blackmailed by her patient, who is a drug addict. KAREN goes and advices her to report the case to the police. KAREN bumps into MAN there and finds his behavior weird.… ...

Seeing that TY has a very good impression on HENRY, BETSY dresses up to attend an appointment with HENRY. They are having a good chat when he sees MAN. BETSY pulls a long face when HENRY wants to go after MAN. HENRY does not have a clue why her attitude has changed so suddenly. HENRY tells PAUL about this, only to be laughed at. PAUL screws up his courage to attend a meeting with TY regarding the complaints. AMY, a social worker attached to the hospital, is under huge pressure because of PAUL’s complaints. BRYAN blames PAUL for this. GRACE is embarrassed that a good friend of hers, SO ON SIN SUSANNA, collects name cards from single doctors on behalf of her. BOSCO, ANSON’s ex-boyfriend who has just been divorced, asks ANSON out. He kisses her goodbye after the appointment, the situation of which is witnessed by GRACE. HO testifies in court for the slander lawsuit and pours his heart out.… ...

KWONG witnesses a motorcycle accident and goes up to help. PAUL, who is still on leave, is called back to hospital for an operation. Still lacks confidence in himself, he asks ANGUS to perform the operation. The driver of the motor is guilty about his girlfriend’s injury. KWONG gives him a few words of consolations with his own experience. ANSON tries to investigate the medical history of VIVIAN but fails. GRACE comes to know that BOSCO is dating ANSON. She tells CHRIS in no time; CHRIS feels uneasy about this. BOSCO wants to start over with ANSON, who gives him a severe lesson instead. Without his asking it, ANSON tells CHRIS about BOSCO and wins his trust. YEUNG misses his grandma. He gives MC the cold shoulder. PHOEBE comes to the hospital to invite PAUL for an interview. Because of her, PAUL is reprimanded by his Public Relation colleague. PAUL apologizes to TY.… ...

MC finds it odd to find some grains of sand in YEUNG’s shoes, but he is so busy that he cannot look into it. PAUL decides to perform an operation on PHOEBE’s good friend. PHOEBE, however, declines his kindness, with the reason that he has mental illness. The conversation is overheard by MC, who gives PHOEBE a lesson. JAN, a friend of HENRY’s, is sent to hospital because of a burnt. Thinking that her boyfriend has neglected her, JAN cries on HENRY’s shoulder. SARAH, who sees this, mistakes that the two have gone back to each other. CHEUNG KA KIT is sent to hospital for cough syrup overdose. The doctor believes that someone has forced him to take the syrup. EDMOND, his guardian, reprimands KIT for messing around with bad guys. ALAN takes HO to see PAUL. HO is surprised when PAUL tells him that it is YIN who has arranged the appointment. YEUNG has gone missing.… ...

EP16 Episode 16 Aug 15, 2005

MC has just had an operation. SARAH takes care of YEUNG for him, but the boy gives her the cold shoulder. ANSON is such a workaholic that she cuts short her honeymoon for work. EDMOND sees KIT being extorted money by his two injurious friends, TAI KAU and SAI DIN, and goes to his help. EDMOND and KIT go to a bar, where PAUL says that he can find KIT a job. BETSY is interested in HENRY’s love life. SARAH tells FRANCES how she appreciates EDMOND for he takes care of his late friend’s younger brother. She mentions HENRY’s name in her conversation and arouses FRANCES’ suspicion. MC is discharged from hospital. He keeps his promise and takes YEUNG to the beach. HENRY has killed the frog that MC has bought for YEUNG for school by accident. SARAH gives MC FRANCES’ pet as a replacement. KIT is very excited and shows EDMOND and FRANCES the gift that his employer has given him. EDMOND and FRANCES are happy for him, too.… ...

SARAH looks at HENRY in a different light when she hears other praising his care for his ex-girlfriend and when she knows that he does voluntary work for a home for the aged. HENRY slips at the old people’s home. UNCLE HO, who lives there, laughs at him and everybody starts to laugh at him, too. EDMOND learns that KIT has been ill and absent from work for a week. He goes to visit KIT, only to discover that he is playing with his bad companions. EDMOND flies into a fit of rage. He takes KIT to work the next day. KIT hits SUM, his boss, without a cause. EDMOND knows only then that SUM has harassed KIT. EDMOND blames himself for not taking good care of KIT. FRANCES also feels guilty to have overlooked KIT’s unusual behavior. SUM tries to persuade KIT into not suing him with money. KIT is provoked by this. EDMOND drives SUM away in anger. EDMOND plans to take KIT home so that he can take better care of him.… ...

EP18 Episode 18 Aug 17, 2005

SUM goes to the hospital, claiming that he has had a fight with his wife. FRANCES is suspicious about what he says after checking his injuries and taking his and his wife’s body tissue. She has also found a white hair on EDMOND’s head. She suspects that it belongs to the murderer. FRANCES learns from ANSON that SUM’s wife is two month pregnant. Coupled with the chemical substance found on the white hair, FRANCES is sure that SUM is the murder. Unfortunately, the body tissue has already been damaged. FRANCES guesses that KAU may have witnessed the incident and plans to go see him. Yet before she can do so, KAU has been knocked down by a car when he is running away from the police. FRANCES notices that KAU has responded to what she says. It is sad that he dies eventually. PAUL sees FRANCES standing at the rooftop. She tells him how she feels, and he, using his own experience, comforts her.… ...

FRANCES has been suffering from insomnia. She keeps herself busy with all kinds of activities. SARAH worries a lot about her. ANSON has been very irritable recently. She therefore suspects that she is pregnant. She is relieved later to find that it is only a false alarm. BETSY goes to do voluntary work with HENRY and has completely forgotten that she should be playing squash with ANUGS. DEREK is annoyed. BETSY is unhappy to see MAN at the home for the aged. FRANCES meets PAUL in the bowling alley. They have a “competition” to see which of them suffers from more serious insomnia. PAUL takes FRANCES to see the sunrise so as to cheer her up. She falls asleep, with her head rested on his shoulder, in the car. UNCLE HO has a fight with MAN. The doctor finds that MAN is mentally unsound. TSUI SEE HANG, a good friend of TY’s, has come to Hong Kong to work as the Hospital Guest Advisor.… ...

EP20 Episode 20 Aug 19, 2005

TY points out that MAN suffers from brain pathological change, which explains his silly speech and behavior. He advises MAN to stay for treatment. MAN, nevertheless, insists to leave, and claims that fools have fortune and that it is good that he can play instruments again. MAN teaches YEUNG to play the flute. This reminds BETSY of something in the past. YEUNG comes to MC’s office and finds that the door is locked. He knocks at the window violently, but MC remains motionless. YEUNG gets into a panic. MC, who has been asleep, has finally woken up. He is thrilled that YEUNG cares so much about him and is willing to speak to him now. BETSY tells HENRY about her family and the reason why she is so disgusted about MAN. HENRY comforts her. LAM, CHRIS’ elder sister, finds CHRIS’ recent behavior odd. She tells ANSON to pay more attention to him. ANSON finds out that CHRIS is planning to have a ligation.… ...

MC and other Yan Oi staff go to the pub for a chill out. When it is time for home, both MC and HENRY offer to give SARAH a lift. It turns out that PAUL drives MC home in the end. MC confesses that he likes SARAH in the car. HENRY and SARAH bump into FRANCES, who is packing up in EDMOND’s house. They go up to give her a hand. HANG is going back to Singapore. She entrusts HONG, a paralyzed patient who has just been referred from a sanatorium, to SARAH. FRANCES is well adapted to her new job as a pathologist. TY asks HENRY to do him a favor by asking BETSY to go home. HENRY, however, thinks it is more important to help BETSY stand up again. BETSY vents her anger on ANGUS. DEREK scolds her for neglecting ANGUS’ feelings. CHRIS and his colleagues have won the lottery. He is so excited that he rushes to tell HENRY and takes ANSON to shop for baby products. HONG has got his degree. Everybody at the hospital is happy for him.… ...

ANSON finds out when PO leads such a frugal life and why she pays so much attention to the exchange rate of the Australian dollars. HANG fixes HONG’s computer for him. SARAH therefore learns by chance that HONG has been affected by the article that HENRY wrote and wanted to end his life. BETSY, who is late for the professional examination, decides not to show up at all. HENRY gives her a good telling off. As requested by SARAH, HENRY tells HONG the reason when he wrote that article. HENRY also feels guilty for not reading and responding to HONG’s e-mails. SARAH is a bit surprised to learn that FRANCES is selling EDMOND’s car to MC. FRANCES explains that she has decided to deal with EDMOND’s things after going to psychological therapy. HENRY and MC learn that PAUL is having an appointment with PHOEBE. HENRY advises PAUL to think twice, but he will not listen. What is more, he mentions about HENRY’s relationship with BETSY.… ...

ANSON decides to conduct a more accurate test for the unborn baby, to which CHRIS feels uneasy. PHOEBE and HENRY attend a TV talk, during which they have an argument over HONG’s case. HENRY dislikes PHOEBE even more after this. PAUL, nevertheless, thinks that she is just being frankly and that she sticks to her own stance. LUK has swallowed some moisture-proof beads by mistake. HUNG worries that he will have another heart attack. SARAH discovers the tattoo on HONG’s body. She wishes that his ex-wife, Iris, can come and talk to him. PUI PUI, who is mentally challenged, is admitted to hospital because of an accident. CHRIS discovers that she is pregnant. PUI likes children. ANSON therefore advises her parents to talk to PUI first before they make the decision to give up her unborn baby. DEREK, who has a crush on GRACE, tries to please GRACE in every way. ANGUS is not well, yet he dares not tell anyone.… ...

On top of apologizing to SARAH, MC also explains the cancellation. SARAH comforts YEUNG, seeing the he has difficulty in handling his relationship with his mum. Martha would like to take YEUNG back to the USA for further study; MC refuses her request abruptly. HENRY knows that NELSON, who is a physician, is courting FRANCES. Without asking FRANCES first, he stops NELSON from going further. SARAH is choosing a gift for YEUNG when she comes across Martha. She gives tells Martha what kind of toys YEUNG likes. PAUL and PHOEBE, and FRANCES and Nelson, have just started their relationships. SARAH wonders why FRANCES does not choose PAUL. BETSY is thinking of a transfer. ANGUS shows his concern. HANG asks Iris to pay a visit to HONG but she turns her down. BETSY, who sees what happens, does not agree that HENRY and SARAH should ask IRIS to do something she does not want. IRIS visits HONG secretly. PO gives her some consolations.… ...

CHRIS hopes that he could have a say in deciding whether to keep the baby or not. He is frustrated that ANSON is rather indifferent to his complaint. HENRY advises CHRIS to trust ANSON’s professionalism; CHRIS retorts with some very bad words. PAUL sees ANGUS going for a medical check up. ANGUS has no choice but to tell him his problem. PHOEBE visits PAUL in his place. She seems very interested in KWONG’s story. HENRY provokes PHOEBE to anger and she leaves right away. PAUL is helpless. CHRIS has been sleeping at the hospital. GRACE, who cannot bear to see this, tells him the pressure that ANSON has been under. She also tells him to go home and shows ANSON his support. SUSANNA hears everything. She mistakes that GRACE is trying to win CHRIS’ favor. HUNG is trying to end LUK’s life. HONG is shocked. Fortunately, PO and ANSON come to stop HUNG in time.… ...

EP26 Episode 26 Aug 29, 2005

GRACE and DEREK go to the movie. He receives a call, telling him that ANGUS has blacked out at home. Fortunately, DEREK’s mother sees this and rushes him to hospital before it is too late. DEREK is unhappy to know that ANGUS has quite his job for his health. YEUNG invites SARAH home for dinner. MC is busy with work and so cannot go home to cook. YEUNG uses up his pocket money to buy something for the dinner, after which he has to walk home. MAN offers to help him cook when he sees how helpless he is. MAN collapses when he is cooking; YEUNG is panic. DEREK scolds ANGUS for giving up his job as a doctor. When he finishes, he stomps away. PAUL, who sees everything, goes up and gives him a lesson. Troubled by YEUNG’s custody, MC is rather emotional, so much so that he kisses SARAH by force. HENRY happens to see this and he pushes MC away. HENRY has left his keys in the office. He is looking for a locksmith when he bumps into BETSY.… ...

EP27 Episode 27 Aug 30, 2005

KWONG has a traffic accident and is sent to hospital. Not until then does he know that he has chronic kidney failure. A patient named Albert, despite his old age, is very lustful. He is interested in SARAH when he sees how much she appreciates his red wine, which not many people do. Albert can see that HENRY likes SARAH. He points to HENRY that he is no match to SARAH. HENRY is angry. SARAH has dinner with MC and YEUNG. During the dinner, she advises MC not to fight with MARTHA in court for YEUNG’s custody. MC does not listen, nevertheless. NELSON plays bowling with FRANCES. He feels sick in the middle of the course because of the noisy environment there. PHOEBE launches a fund-raising activity for KWONG so that he can afford his medical fees. She also invites the press to have interviews with him in the hospital. PAUL is displeased with all these. LING contacts PAUL and offers a kidney donation to KWONG. KWONG tells down her kindness.… ...

FRANCES and PAUL decide not deceive themselves. They propose to split up with NELSON and PHOEBE respectively. MC does not think that he stands a chance of wining his son’s custody. SARAH comforts him. Although MARTHA knows it very well that YEUNG is very close to MC, she stills believes that her relationship with YEUNG will improve. MC reproaches her for not respecting YEUNG’s own will. BETSY has made an erroneous diagnosis and is reprimanded by MC. BETSY believes that MC, who has been troubled by his family, was venting his anger on her. HENRY does not think so. CHRIS is shopping for computer games when he comes across GRACE. The two has an excellent rapport with each other. SARAH is very much annoyed that ALBERT is running after her. HENRY offers to give her some help. FRANCES and PAUL enjoy their single lives again. HENRY learns that BETSY has applied for a transfer to the Cardiac Department.… ...

KAREN confirms that she has contracted the venereal disease from CHEUNG, her husband. She forgives him nevertheless for the sake of their son though her heart aches. Her heart is broken later when she discovers that her husband is messes around with women again. The relationship of YEUNG and Martha has improved. MC feels a sense of loss. CHRIS is inspired by some disabled athletes and their families. He decides not to escape from reality by playing computer games anymore. YEUNG is suspected to have inherited anemia. MC therefore doubts that YEUNG is not his biological son. KAREN has received quite a few complaints from patients recently. BRYAN defends her and has an argument with AMY. HENRY and Albert go fishing together so as to settle things for SARAH. They compare fishing to chasing girls and have a good chat. No sooner has CHRIS been home than ANSON embraces him in tears.… ...

FRANCES, who has been traveling for a while, has returned to Hong Kong. ANSON is not feeling well. Nevertheless, she insists on delivering a woman’s baby. As a result, she loses her own child. This comes as a big blow to CHRIS. KAREN decides to divorce CHEUNG and immerses herself in work. After meeting with a bone cancer patient of SARAH’s, PAUL has a new light in life and decides to go out with FRANCES. BETSY reports duty at the Cardiac Department. MC tests her with some questions, and is dissatisfied with her performance. MC has been granted YEUNG’s custody at last. He, nevertheless, he lets YEUNG go to the States with his mother believing he will have better treatment for his problem there. MARTHA is a bit surprised that he has found out already that YEUNG is not his biological son and by his reaction. Although MC knows perfectly well how SARAH sees him and HENRY, he still tries his best hoping to win her heart.… ...

MC, knowing that PAUL has been very down because of PHOEBE’s illness, goes and cheers him up. BETSY can see that MC does not trust her. HENRY gives her some words of consolations, only to be accused of leading to her present situation. The workmen at the furniture store of GRACE’s family are going to CHRIS’ place to repair his bed. GRACE goes with them. HENRY is at a bookshop when he meets SUE, who sent the victim of a car accident to hospital the other day. PAUL returns to his car to take something, leaving FRANCES alone in the bar. When he returns, he is shocked to see that something has happened in the bar. He tells FRANCES how worried he is. MC sees HENRY and SUE together. HENRY worries that he will tell SARAH about this. PHOEBE is standing dangerously at the roof top. PAUL manages to persuade her into giving up her suicidal thought. BETSY is home. She discovers some traces which suggest that HENRY has taken a woman home.… ...

ANSON tests CHRIS’ reaction to the earring. When she knows that it belongs to GRACE, she cannot help but suspects that CHRIS and GRACE are having an affair. SARAH accompanies FRANCES to buy a silk scarf for PHOEBE, during which SARAH discloses her secret in mind to FRANCES. KWONG goes to the hospital for dialysis; there he hears that PHOEBE has cancer and that PAUL is the doctor in charge. He therefore advises PAUL to be careful in handling his sentiment. FRANCES is unhappy to see PHOEBE make use of her identity as a patient to satisfy her own need and that she claims that she is going to win PAUL’s sympathy. After knowing about SARAH’s illness, TY tells her that he will re-arrange her jobs. He also advises her to accept her friends’ support. MC teases at HENRY, who is being uneasy. BETSY discovers that her name has been crossed out from the list of surgeons who will take part in surgeries. She goes to reason with MC.… ...

BETSY sees SARAH walking out from MC’s dormitory. When she later knows that HENRY has confessed everything to SARAH, she concludes that SARAH is revenging HENRY. PAUL takes some drug to PHOEBE, only to see her jumping off the building to end her life. MC comes across an old friend of his, after which he determines to accomplish something in his career. He has decided too to firstly turn to BETSY. Noticing that PAUL is upset for PHOEBE’s death, FRANCES decides to keep the conversation between her and PHOEBE a secret. ANSON is handling a pregnant woman’s complaint when ROSANNA behaves rather weirdly. GRACE, who sees this, is worried. AMY tries to kill herself with pills. Luckily, she is sent to hospital before it is too late. BRYAN tells her that he has left his lover and asks for her forgiveness. AMY, nevertheless, has made up her mind to leave him. BETSY visits ANGUS and gets to taste the organic fruits that he planted himself. FRANCES goes to seek PAUL and SARAH’s advice on her working as a Forensic Pathologist again. DEREK gets ANGUS’ address from BETSY and pays him a visit. The two are reconciled with each other. CHRIS asks BETSY about what happened in the canteen the other day. She reveals her feelings for him. CHRIS is rather shocked; he begs GRACE not to tease him in front of ANSON. GRACE fears that she cannot hold her love to CHRIS any longer. She goes to ROSANNA to pour her heart out. FRANCES is stunned to learn that SARAH’s cancer has recurred. She makes up her mind to go back to Forensic Pathology after the news. KWONG’s condition has turned bad. He is hospitalized and put on the kidney transplantation wait list. ANSON can see that GRACE is very excited on seeing that CHRIS has got the same cell phone strap as hers.… ...

PAUL tries to persuade NING into changing her mind, fearing that KWONG may not be able to make it to the next opportunity. PAUL has found out that NING refused to donate her husband’s kidney when she knew that KWONG is the beneficiary. He later gets the truth from KWONG. A youngster has killed himself, leaving behind a note that accuses SUM or sexually attacked him. FRANCES, nevertheless, does not find any evidence on the dead body. HENRY goes to SARAH to give her a wedding invitation of a mutual friend of theirs. He grabs the opportunity to ask her out but is turned down. Following the advice of ROSANNA, GRACE tells CHRIS frankly that she understands his difficulty. CHRIS is relieved, and he tells her the problem that he and ANSON have to face. She gives him some consolation; CHRIS is touched and kisses her. The two have a car accident outside a love hotel. CHRIS explains to ANSON at once.… ...

SARAH announces her illness and her dating with HENRY to her colleagues. ROSANNA advises GRACE not to see CHRIS for the time being so as to test his love for ANSON. NING goes to see KWONG; he apologizes to her. It turns out that PHOEBE has revealed in her last work that KWONG has been feeling guilty for his mistake and he regrets not having the opportunity to say sorry to NING’s husband, who is a good friend of his. PAUL sighs as NING’s husband eventually dies. PAUL discovers that SUM’s wife, YUNG, is mentally tense. FRANCES explains that this shows that she is guilty for what she has done in fighting for a pardon for her husband. A patient of BETSY’s refuses to be treated by her because of her mistake in the past. MC, who witnesses this, gives the patient a lesson. Under the arrangement of MC, BETSY and TY meet with each other. BETSY refuses to accept TY’s gift because of old grudge.… ...

YUNG tries to take her life by burning charcoals. After knowing that FRANCES has persuaded YUNG into testifying against SUM, PAUL accuses FRANCES of pushing YUNG even though she knows that YUNG is troubled mentally. FRANCES is speechless. TY promotes MC. Thinking that MC got the promotion because of her, BETSY asks MC to treat her to dinner. SUM is acquitted. The family members of the victim push him onto the ground in anger outside the court. SUM, who has foam at his mouth, is rushed to the hospital. PAUL finds that the tumor in his brain has burst and that an operation is needed immediately. Unfortunately, SUM dies. TY recommends MC to conduct a bypass operation for Professor TIN, who is a famous cardiac surgeon. MC needs BETSY to look after TIN after work. She is upset that she cannot take part in a Halloween party because of this. PAUL is shocked to hear the result of the inquest of the coroner on SUM’s death.… ...

Some passengers of a flight to Hong Kong have contracted contagious Monkey Pox. TY instructs HENRY to report to him at once if suspected cases are found. NELSON has come to Hong Kong for a medical conference. He takes the opportunity to pay FRANCES a visit. ANSON forces CHRIS to face squarely on GRACE. Instead of blaming NING for her refusal to donate her husband’s kidney, KWONG is grateful to her. FRANCES takes a pregnant woman to the hospital. As a result, she has to cancel her meeting with PAUL. SARAH is dumbfounded when she knows that HENRY is aware of her cancer illness. FRANCES goes to the countryside alone for photo-taking. She is robbed and tied up. They are therefore forced to stay in there. HENRY explains the measure to the patients. They demand to leave immediately. KAREN manages to convince them it is better stay than leave. PAUL and the police are looking everywhere for FRANCES when HENRY calls and says that FRANCES may have contracted Monkey Pox from YING. HENRY does not have a clue as to why SARAH has been indifferent to him recently. BETSY stays by the bed of TY, who has just undergone an operation. MC cares about her, yet she misunderstands his intention. SARAH thinks that HENRY started a relationship with her just because of her illness. HENRY has nothing to say in reply. GRACE and CHRIS have a chat. CHRIS can see that GRACE has not really got over him.… ...

CHRIS tells ANSON that he has made it clear how he sees GRACE when he and GRACE were in the store-room alone when the A & E was sealed off. ANSON, however, points out that the three of them are actually putting themselves as well as the other to a test. SARAH is considering going to work in Singapore with HANG. YEUNG has come back suddenly. MC is thrilled. MARTHA has brought YEUNG back because she has heard that TIN has invited MC to go to the States. And she has made up her mind that she should let YEUNG decide where to receive his education. The blood clog in TY’s brain has been removed, but PAUL tells BETSY that TY’s days are numbered. TY has woken up; BETSY holds his hands and apologizes to him. PAUL lets MC know TY’s conviction as a doctor by telling him a story. MC and YEUNG go to the beach. YEUNG shows MC his support when he knows that MC is staying in Hong Kong. MC tells BETSY why he wanted to stay; BETSY is relieved.… ...
