Synopsis

Homefront is an American television drama series created and produced by Lynn Marie Latham and Bernard Lechowick in association with Warner Bros. Television for ABC. The show was set in the fictional city of River Run, Ohio in 1945, 1946, and 1947. The show's theme song, "Accentuate the Positive", was written by Johnny Mercer and performed by Jack Sheldon. Forty-two episodes were broadcast in the United States over two seasons from 1991 to 1993. TV Guide, Abigail Van Buren, and fans showed determination in getting ABC to continue the show for a third season before it was cancelled.

ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Sharkflei Your blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.
Abegail Noëlle While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
Monique One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
dbqpaul I recently obtained a complete set of Homefront on DVD from a company in Canada. Quality is very good to excellent. I had forgotten the exceptional quality of the writing and acting of this series. It should be running on one of the mainstream cable networks. I grew up in the late 40s and early 50s. This series captures the era better than anything I've ever seen on TV. Many of the actors are still seen on shows ranging from Crossing Jordan to Scrubs, Young and the Restless, Becker, and many others. The only comparable series that comes to mind is American Dreams...and, of course that ended prematurely, too. Why must we tolerate the mindless garbage of "reality TV" when writers can craft scripts of this quality.
J Lee One of the best shows on TV. I would love to see the show again on DVD. I wish I knew who to contact to request a DVD release. This was one of the finest written shows on TV bu it seem as if not many people knew about it. It might take a cult following to resurrect the show via DVD. With Kyle Chandler now on Frdiay Night Lights, it would seem that you could market this enough to make it worth marketing on DVD.One of the best shows on TV. bratto14 I absolutely loved this show. My son of 18 at the time told me to watch it. I declined as usual because every show I started watching at the time was canceled within 13 weeks. I did finally give in and watched it later in the season. I was hooked. I did watch the summer reruns and the next season. I was heartbroken when it was canceled. I have been looking for it on reruns ever since. Last year I found it on Cable GoodLife TV and have recorded every episode. I watch it over and over again. I think if it had lasted another year it might have caught on. I do not understand why has taken so long to come out on DVD. Should be in everyone's library. It is well acted, well directed, well cast and as short as it was great history of the times. Would love to see it on a more popular cable station as well as DVD.
gambrino5 This was/is an incredible series that continues to be my all time favorite. I do stay up until all hours of the morning to watch a re-run when I can on Sunday night where this show is still being aired on GoodLife television. I really hope someone will wake up and release this series on DVD while the market is hot...they are releasing so many TV series, HOMEFRONT deserves to be on the shelves so we can get it back in our homes! While it was a difficult exercise in "tv-guide" navigation trying to figure out when homefront was being aired, it always proved to be worth it. The songs, the story-lines, the characters were truly captivating. Who can we write to about its being released to those of us who truly enjoyed this program?
