Sam Harris #Warning very, very, very slight spoilers. When someone suggested to me to watch Human Target the title threw me off and Mark Valley. It sounds like another crappy TV Show with a cocky annoying main character who is invincible and totally unbelievable, but I thought I would give it a try.But after watching a few episodes, I was hooked and after watching both seasons (stupid fox) The action is great, at times unrealistic but never too far fetched The comedy is brilliant, the arguments between characters is hilarious. The Episodes are written very well and there are lots of twists in the plots. All Characters are played superbly but I was especially impressed by Guerrero, he is definitely my favourite character, the fact that he is so mysterious that nobody knows his full name. He is played by Jackie Earl Haley who most of you might know as Rorschach off the watchmen. The Second season gives Guerrero more of the spotlight but I find the humour more cheesy in the second season and the action unrealistic but second season is still incredible. Ilsa is a tad annoying though.Everything Consider top show, short seasons so why not give it a watch :)
electronic_blade I started watching Human Target based upon the synopsis here, namely "A unique bodyguard masquerades as his clients in order to draw out and eliminate threats to their lives." Unfortunately this isn't entirely true. He isn't masquerading as his clients (which was what I was looking forward to seeing - how he would do that), he is donning identities in order to infiltrate his client's lives and be close to them. In short, as a bodyguard. The 'unique' part isn't really there, he is simply putting the client in the firing line while working out who wants them dead. In short, not nearly as clever as the synopsis made it out to be.That said, aside from the terrible theme music (tries for 'epic', but it just sounds like desperately trying!), the show is good enough. There is action, there are a suitable amount of gunfire/explosions/hero-saving-the-day.It may not be what I'd hoped it would be, but it is worth watching. It has movie-style drama, without the long running time. And on the plus side, there is very little (so far at least) James Bond style women who see the protagonist and immediately want to take their clothes off to be with him for one night. As such, it feels far more realistic and balanced, and no doubt has encouraged more women to watch an action TV series as a result. It also gives a better illusion of intelligence to the series - instead concentrating on the clients, the deception, and the attacker.
reverencek6 this show kinda crept up on me the syfy channel in the uk run the first season in the run up to to the second season starting and not really being a fan of the action genre i wasn't sure what to expect. boy am i glad i tuned in to watch this! crisp, cool acting from mark valley! its very easy to overplay these action roles but he hits the nail on the head and jackie earle haley is just excellent! chuck in the quick wit of chi mcbrides character and you've got a highly entertaining and surprisingly very funny show! so why the heck American networks keep cancelling these brilliant shows after only a couple of seasons is beyond me!?! i feel given the chance this show could have been very big!
Alpha_PL Human Target was a good show. It had, and for the most part still has, a good cast. Chance perfectly plays a laid-back hero-for hire, same for McBride who plays Winston, Chance's voice of reason, and Haley, the wild card of the group. Each episode of season 1 was like a mini James Bond movie. Everything was pretty predictable, but the clever writing, great acting of both main players and guest stars and extremely bad-ass stunts and action sequences made it and enjoyable TV show to watch. Then season 2 came around and everything collapsed like a house of cards. FOX was not satisfied with the ratings and the fact that the male oriented cast didn't appeal to women, so they had the show retooled. The two new additions to the cast were horrendous, both characters served as nothing more than road blocks in the story lines, one in a typical TV show fashion was always screwing up the assignments and the other (the boss of the whole Human Target detective agency) was always complaining about how Chance does his business. Not to mention that the love-interest storyline for the nagging boss and Chance was completely unnecessary for the show. The biggest blow for me was the fact that the awesome cliffhanger from the season 1 finale was wrapped up in about five second and completely forgotten for the remainder of the season 2. The fact that there were maybe three episodes in season 2 that weren't completely cliché-ridden and badly written didn't help either. As I'm writing this review FOX hasn't yet announced if 'Human Target' returns for the third season or not, but if the show remains in Matt Miller's hands, I say put it out of it's misery.
