Synopsis

Judge Judy is an American arbitration-based reality court show presided over by retired Manhattan Family Court Judge Judith Sheindlin. The show features Sheindlin adjudicating real-life small claims disputes within a simulated courtroom set. All parties involved must sign contracts, agreeing to arbitration under Sheindlin. The series is in first-run syndication and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Judge Judy, which premiered on September 16, 1996, reportedly revitalized the court show genre. Only two other arbitration-based reality court shows preceded it, The People's Court and Jones and Jury. Sheindlin has been credited with introducing the "tough" adjudicating approach into the judicial genre, which has led to several imitators. The two court shows that outnumber Judge Judy's seasons, The People's Court and Divorce Court, have both lasted via multiple lives of production and shifting arbiters, making Sheindlin's span as a television arbiter the longest.

Reviews

Nonureva Really Surprised!
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
stnbwen I have never seen a judge so disrespectful in my life. You have little to be a Judge no compassion so nasty are you. Look into your own problems with your life.
summerlinnv She scream and yells. You can tell she loves the spotlight. That's fine but she is so rude that I can't watch this show. I was stuck in a hospital for 3 weeks and the television was limited however she came on 2 of these channels and I was stuck with this scream witch. In real life I avoid people like her! So I avoid her television show!
Dave This is a reality series about small claims cases, headed by Judy Sheindlin. It has been running since 1996 and nearly two thousand episodes have been broadcast.Sheindlin has a dreadful, unprofessional, arrogant attitude. She frequently snaps at the people involved in the cases. She's inpatient and angry - often interrupting them mid-sentence to shout at them in a patronising, sneering way. Some cases are fabricated.
BDrums1971 How in God's name can anyone like this old hag? She makes a complete mockery of any form of a court system. Sure, it's not a real court, but the mindless viewers are brainwashed into thinking this is normal behavior in a court of law.JJ is arrogant, narcissistic, and no REAL court of law should EVER employ someone of her nature. It just astounds me how they continue to get litigants on that show, when they know they will be verbally assaulted and abused. And that's really what it is. It is verbal abuse! Imagine if JJ would do what she does OUTSIDE her "playpen" (as she calls it). She would (should) be arrested for verbal abuse.By the way, I don't think she is half as smart as she thinks she is. Yea, she's got some brains, but her narcissistic mentality makes her think she is so much better and smarter than EVERYONE else on the planet. The world would be a MUCH nicer place without the likes of JJ in it.
