EP1 Pilot Aug 04, 1998

Public Defender Kathy Baker visits the small Florida town of Deep Water to defend a young client being used as a pawn by a politically minded judge. She stumbles onto the town's many peculiarities including a criminally minded backwoods family, an abusive deputy, alligators running rampant, and a crazed environmentalist, all presided over by an eccentric judge, ""Maximum"" Bob Gibbs.

EP2 Wandalust Aug 11, 1998

Bob 'borrows' a convict from the prison to serve as his personal gardener, leading to problems when Wanda Grace chooses him to be her first love. Leanne willingly donates her body for Wanda's use. Bob bursts in, leading to a large manhunt and a kidnapped baby.

EP3 Bay of Big's Aug 18, 1998

Bob enjoys the satisfaction when he busts he ex-wife Rosellen for smuggling Cuban cigars into the country. His satisfaction is short-lived when two Federal agents arrive, claiming that she's a federal operative. Determined to get to the bottom of things, Bob spies on Rosellen and in the process gets captured and held hostage by Cuban Freedom Fighters. Meanwhile, in another part of Deep Water, Kathy and Sheriff Hammond practice for an upcoming dance contest.

EP4 A Little Tail Aug 25, 1998

Kathy represents a man being refused a job as a mermaid. Dirk and Bogart Crowe refuse to return their pet manatee to its rightful owner. Kathy represents her estranged husband Kevin after he's brought before Judge Gibbs for traffic violations. Kevin tries to convince Kathy he's a changed man.

EP5 Good Dog Karl Sep 01, 1998

Kathy befriends a dog that saved her life. Meanwhile, the whole town is up in arms over a beast of some sort that attacked a young woman, biting off three fingers. According to witnesses (the Crowe family) the beast was either a Gatorman or the Okeechobee Wolfman. Judge Gibbs hires an exorcist to cast out Wanda Grace.

EP6 Dead Babe Walking Sep 08, 1998

Bob falls for a born-again death row inmate. After 'Old Sparky' blows a fuse, Bob works with Kathy to find a way to let the prisoner, Angelyne, off the hook. Meanwhile, Inez Crowe comes to work as Leanne's personal aide.

EP7 Once Bitten Sep 15, 1998

Judge Gibbs' gubernatorial campaign is temporarily derailed by allegations of sexual assault levelled by a former intern. Elvin Crowe and Sheriff Gary hunt down Sonny and another convict after the two break out of prison.

Maximum Bob is a short-lived television series that debuted in 1998 on ABC TV. Starring Beau Bridges, the show was based on Elmore Leonard's 1991 novel with the same title.

O2D I just recently discovered this show and I'm shocked that they only made seven episodes.It was quirky and funny and quite original.That may have been the reason a network like ABC didn't want it.They never had a good show, so why start here?I do think the story leveled off around episode four but it was still above average for a network show.The only thing I didn't like about the show was the twins.I'm sure they were intended to be hilarious but they almost never made me laugh.The time they dug the grave was funny but that's about it.They didn't even have anything to do with the story.They could have been cut out(along with Bob and Leanne's boring bedroom scenes) and this could have been a great thirty minute show.Maybe if they had done that this show would have gotten picked up for a full season.Who knows?Also the end was a bit lame but I won't spoil it for you.If you can find this, watch it.
afison I saw this show on its only run on English TV a year before i moved to the swampy part of the USA and loved it. It was reminiscent of Twin Peaks in its quirkiness. Mr Bridges was excellent in the role of the southern judge and the portrayal of the "bubbas" was spot on, and yes those people do exist down here.Its been 8 years since i saw this show and still i am looking for a DVD of the season or anything about it. I swear I thought i was the only one who liked or even saw this show. I often cite this as one of the high points in American broadcasting, but i am just met with blank stares and bemusement. I guess it was on against some other mega show when it was on ABC(?, but who knows they might show it again when they cancel a show mid-season and need six weeks of programming.i was glad to find other bob heads out here who still remember this show and mourn its passing.all in all one of the best shows i have ever seen despite being made by one of the major networks
SherBa I thought it was funny and different and it's something new to watch. I laughed and laughed. Beau Bridges is right on the money as "Maximum Bob"; Liz Vassey is spunky; and Sam Robards is a dream. Hope we continue to see more of this show.
Munkeluv I did not like this show at all. I could barely stay awake, the plot line is un-funny. I really don't know how they are going to continue. If the pilot was this bad, and they told everyting. I just don't know what is going to happen in the next episodes. 2 words......NOT FUNNY!
