Synopsis

Mrs. Brown's Boys is a British-Irish award winning sitcom created by and starring writer and performer Brendan O'Carroll. The show is based on O'Carroll's stage plays about the character Agnes Browne, which were developed from books and straight-to-DVD films. The sitcom continues the stories of Agnes, now with the shortened surname "Brown", and her family who are played by real life close friends and family of O'Carroll's. After being slated by critics, the show has become a ratings success in both Ireland, where it is set, and the United Kingdom, where it is recorded. On 29 December 2012 the show began its third series. Mrs Brown's Boys is a co-production among BBC Scotland, BocPix and RTÉ.

Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
kirpo-kakkonen When I found out about Mrs Browns Boys, was a few years back. I saw a scene of Christmas Special. The spray glue scene... with Winnie. "I can explain this... !!!" I was howling of laughter. I did some digging and after that had to get the episodes. They were all worth it. Even the overall idea, man dressed as a woman, all indoor studio sitcom. The jokes, some not the freshest ones. But, how it is put together, and done. The cast. I just loved it. And the series also can handle some serious topics as well. Not losing the lighter side of things, and ridiculing topics. This is something that hit my sense of humor completely. Loved it all the way.
Colin Evans Watching Mrs Brown's boys is like stepping back in time, and returning to the 70's, back to a time when comedy was funny, and somehow innocent. For many years sitcoms have been like magnolia walls, drab and uninspiring, and totally formulaic, 2.4 children, My Family, in with the Flynns, and now more recently The Kennedys. The same show with different actors.Mrs Brown's boys has done something different, the audience participation adds something back into the humour, the laughs are real, not canned. As funny on screen as they are on stage, how unusual to work so closely with ones family, hopefully they're a close bunch. I for one wish Brendan would change his mind over no forth series, it's his wish that the show continues only with Seasonal Specials. Viewing figures for the later episodes tipped over nine million. The best episodes: -Mammy's Miracle -Mammy's Ass -Supermammy - Mammy's Valentine
ianlouisiana Back in the 1930s Mr Arthur Lucan and his wife Miss Kitty McShane created a variety act called "Old Mother Riley" which was hugely successful and spawned 20 quickie movies and a career that lasted until Lucan's death in 1954.Subsequently other performers played the part at least up until the 1970's when Mr Danny LaRue played Kitty. Mrs Riley was an Irish widow woman whilst clearly a man in a dress with no feminine attributes whatsoever.Miss Mcshane played his pretty daughter despite being his wife in real life. If this is all beginning to sound bit familiar it is hardly surprising. "Mrs Brown's boys" is merely Old Mother Riley with her dirty laundry on display. "F**k off Dermot","F***k off Buster","F***k off Winnie".......well,no one could ever accuse it of being subtle. Mrs Brown's habit of deliberately "corpsing" her family members is obviously far more amusing to them thant to the audience and her stepping out of her persona from time to time to address the crew another affectation that is merely irritating. It is hardly surprising that us so called "uptight" Brits love "Mrs Brown's Boys" with it's potty-mouthed star and I have no prudish objection to the "F" word per se,but rather like banging your head against a brick wall,it's a relief when it stops. As a child I was once taken to "Old Mother Riley" in pantomime and even at aged 12 I could see under the harsh stage lighting a tired, sunken - eyed old man gurning desperately under his thick make - up and a skinny thin - lippped woman muttering to him under her breath, quite possibly feeding him his lines.Mr O'Carroll will never be reduced to these straits, but I hope he sometimes spares a thought for a fellow artiste whose talent singularly failed to make him rich and famous.
Jason McAvoy I absolutely Love this TV Series! The comedy in it is brilliant. Every time I watch this Programme... I'm in stitches! The Plot is brilliant! The Characters are amazing, in my opinion I think everything about it is astoundingly fun and enjoyable! Even though there isn't that many episodes, I still think it is one of the funniest TV shows I have ever watched. You should definitely try it out! The only bad thing I have to say about this Series is that even though it is rated 15+ I think some of the themes shown in it aren't entirely understandable for that age rating and I do believe that it should be rated an 18+ just for that, it's just all the sexual themes in it and all the swearing that makes me think it's inappropriately rated. But still a brilliant series, and definitely one of my all time favourites.
