I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Fleur
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

Some episode are good, Camelot, Troy and Atocha.Anything related to the bible is a waste of time, and based on poor science, archaeology and theory. Ark of the covenant episodes come to mind.Religious nutjob says: "We found it digging in Israel." Proceeds to offers 0 proof, and of course goes on to profit and eventually die with their claims.

Some of the episodes are marginally better than others, but it really boils down to the all too familiar theme of conspiracy theory and bad science. Particularly when covering subjects of a religious nature they appear to work very hard to portray the Catholic Church in the worst possible terms. Similar to the infamous Geraldo Rivera opening the lost safe of Al Capone to find... nothing... the stories are built with great dramatic effect only to end with no real revelations and very weak summing up of unsupported theory and conjecture. While not so full of obvious crackpots as the typical "History Channel" fare, I did note one episode where they presented someone as an "anthropologist who is, in fact, just a South African filmmaker and hardly an "expert" on anything but drama!

All of these shows about myths in the end show nothing.. They always arrive at the same conclusion: nothing is found. In this particular case though, I was more puzzled at how they treat the search for the Ark of the Covenant and for Noah's Ark as "Christian " subjects. These are not "Christian" subjects. The book of Genesis and Exodus were written centuries before Christianity even existed. They are part of what Christianity renamed the Old testament , which is in reality the Jewish Torah written by Moses. It really upsets me who Christianity always try to change the names of things and people ( i.e. "Jesus" or "The last Supper") and try to "Christianize" them. Even worse, so many people buy this

I discovered this show on Netflix. This show is awesome. The narrator is excellent. Many of the topics presented on this show have been covered on other shows like America Unearthed on the History Channel, but the episodes in this series are way better done. Seems like other shows on the History Channel like America Unearthed and of course Ancient Aliens tend to interview crackpots who practice pseudoscience, but this show interviews more credible experts even when the episode's topic might be far fetched. Montezuma's Gold and Superstition Mountains are some of the best. The recreations are really good and I like the way they blend them together with historical footage and photos. Check it out.
