Synopsis

Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi's case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clientele: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for...

Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
morgan davies After hearing about this anime through the internet and countless lists on great anime to binge watch, I was negated to watch this through it appearing to be aimed at girls and it seemed to be a sharp contrast from the common dark stories that usually make anime an intense experience. But after succumbing to illness and being bedridden for a few days I decided to have a look at the first episode. Oh boy, was I surprised. I can only compare it to the likes of Wes Anderson if he were to make an anime; the overflow of colour and lights, hilarious and sometimes black comedy, complete with excellently developed characters with unusual idiosyncrasies.Although its main narrative isn't anything groundbreaking or original, it's definitely portrayed differently and it's the perfect idea to be exaggerated in the world of anime. The characters are wonderful oddities and aren't afraid to be different or to explore taboo subjects. To the unknowing viewer, some of the topics shown might be considered 'over the line' but talking from the experience of watching this, it's better to embrace the weirdness of this show as it has a lot to offer in its run of 26 episodes. The show isn't driven by a hard hitting story and doesn't aim for tear-jerking moments, excessive gore or fantastical sci-fi; it uses it's simplicity to its advantage by focusing on all of the main characters and their contrasts with each other, also introducing a few hints of satire towards social class in there.Overall, I advise anyone - even if you're a guy trying to preserve your masculinity - to give this show a watch. It's outrageous and funny and the material doesn't get old, especially with the use of frequent fourth-wall breaks and genuinely sweet interludes. I was extremely surprised by this and I'll be sure to re-watch it soon.
MissLaurelle This is the silly story of a smart but poor girl by the name of Haruhi that is accepted into a prestigious high-class high school due to her grades. One day she happens to walk into the room where the Host Club takes place (Host Club is a group of good looking men that spend their time pleasing women and making them happy). Haruhi accidentally then breaks a vase and it is decided that she will have to work at the host club to repay her debt (since she can't afford to pay for it).The thing is the men in the host club don't realize that Haruhi is a girl at first due to her attire and short hair. So basically the story revolves around her working at the host club as a guy trying to repay her debt.To me, the story seemed somewhat kind of lame but it is the sub-story in each episode that is so interesting and fun to watch. Slowly as the episodes go by, you learn about every character and each one is different with their own special story and personality. At times I'd have to say it's a bit over the top ridiculous but it is a light anime that will get you in a good mood. One thing I was happy about was the ending! To me this is an anime you watch when you want to be cheered up. It's not something that will get you hooked but you'll find yourself coming back to it every so often for the laughs.Worth watching!
bennyjayruss Host Club' was entertaining at times, and uninteresting the rest of the time. I disliked this show very much. Maybe it was the 'fake-incestuous' twins, or the relationship between a 'toddler-like-boy' and a senior... something just didn't sit right with me. This show seems like it's marketed towards primary school kids. It's full of stupid stories and over-the-top characters. Popular opinion says that this is a great show, but I think it's at the bottom of the barrel in comparison to other Yaoi and Shoujo anime series. It's about a girl named Haruhi (Maaya Sakamoto), who accidentally walks into a room full of handsome high school boys. They are the 'Host Club,' a group of boys who are in the business of escorting girls who want to be wooed and thrilled by their charm. The group is composed of: a very feminine leader, a boring manager, fake-incestuous twins, and another boring person (with his toddler-like companion named Honey). Basically, Haruhi becomes friends with them and you see all kinds of mischief they get up to.First of all, there aren't any likable characters... not one. You never hear their thoughts (unless they're joking), which makes it impossible to connect to the characters. The thing is, none of the characters have a particularly interesting story. They're all either over-the-top and annoying, or too quiet. The character that looked and acted like a toddler bothered me the most about this series. There is a romance story with this character that is just plain weird. This is a toddler for all intents and purposes! He's there to look cute and represent a 3 to 6 year old boy. Even though he is '17' in the show, does that make his romance any less disturbing? Honey-Senpai is literally the most annoying anime character I've ever come across. He's not cute, and the sound of his voice makes me cringe. I dreaded having to watch an episode that focused on him.The incestuous brotherly love characters also made me feel a bit uncomfortable. It is as if someone made a fan-fiction of The Weasley Twins (Fred and George) from Harry Potter, with them being a couple. It's like there's no such thing as a 'Taboo' in Japan. Crossing the line... what line? Nothing is off limits for their animes. Minitokyo.Ouran.High.School.Host.Club.298202 After seeing top quality anime recently, Host Club was above all, unimpressive. There was nothing new or exciting. If there was a hint of originality or heart put into the story-lines and characters then perhaps the show would have won me over. For now, it's just another forgettable show.P.s. I rated this show 1 Star, because its rating is way too high on this site. Personally, I would give it about 3 Stars out of 10.
Richardohyeah I started watching this anime after I finished the final (and sudden) season of School Rumble. This anime is a mix of comedy and romance, but it centers around comedy and drama as the show progresses. This follows the life of Haruhi, who forcefully joins the Ouran Host Club after breaking an expensive vase. She must pay off her debt by getting 1,000 recommendations as a host. She has to disguise herself as a man because it's a rule that women can't be part of the host club. This show is full of clichés, but luckily doesn't take itself seriously. The Host Club is composed of of characters taking part in different personalities. You have the king of the host club, a handsome, smooth boy who can also be perverted and clingy to Haruhi. You have the twins who use their 'closeness' to their advantage. Honey is a young man acts like a 8 boy with a protective towering companion with a secret that you'll eventually learn. There's several other supporting characters, some funny, some more romantic. All in all, this show goes places anime shows haven't touched before. Homosexuality, transsexualality, rape, sex, and more, without going too inappropriate. This is a hilarious show that comedy and romantic lovers should check out.
