Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Tyreece Hulme One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
mst900 The series title is misleading as it has little to do with Agatha Christie if you are a purist, but it is entertaining enough for a quick break from reality. I love the sets and costumes in general; the setting is just post WW2. They did not have Botox and filler back then. A number of the female characters are pumped full of the stuff as their eyebrows are situated so high and arched on their foreheads and their cheeks so round and full, they have that all too common permanently surprised or even pained clown look that many celebrities have today. Unfortunately, the art of acting with a natural expression that includes facial expressions is becoming a lost art.
qui_j This is just silly! It;s a bit like the stuff one would read in "Boys Own" or "Beano" comics. The acting is overdone but the sets are really quite extravagant, and keeping with the period. Even the attempts at humorous dialogue fall flat. It must have cost quite a bit to make, but it's a pity the content is just so, so bad. There are better Christie series out there.I'm guessing that there wont be a second season as there's just not the suspense, or quirky, devious characters one tends to see in other British crime series. The episodes all end on a cliffhanger but it's more like a old time movie serial where one has to wait until the following week to get the answer. I gave it three stars to be kind, even though I have noted that other reviewers had no problem giving it just one star!
trishyoung-220-917402 I am enjoying "Partners in Crime" very much. Tommy(played by David Williams) is a naive stumbler, but his wife Tuppence(played by Jessica Raine) is bright, sharp and determined to get to the bottom of an evolving mystery. We are starved for British TV (here in the colonies)and are inundated with American shows. To discover this gem is terrific. Although Jessica Raine is excellent as usual, David Williams could be replaced by a lump of bread dough! He was the wrong choice for this part, he needs to be wittier, funnier, more charming and thinner. The other actors are good, but without the acting abilities of Jessica Raine, this show would be mediocre. Where is David Niven when you need him?
Lynn Smith This was so bad I couldn't even watch to the end of the first episode! Not even for lovely Alice Krige - whatever was she thinking, becoming involved with such a ludicrous production? Agatha Christie would be appalled and everyone associated with this misbegotten project should be ashamed of themselves. The writing was unbelievable, the production values very poor and the acting so wooden it was like walking through a forest. It wasn't funny where it was meant to be amusing, and certainly not dramatic where it should have been. About the only things true to the period (wrong one, by the way) were the clothes and lovely old cars. One can only hope we've seen the last of Tommy and Tuppence. I certainly won't be tempted to view their befuddled exploits again.
