Freaktana A Major Disappointment
Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
Kodie Bird True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
helloheather30 Enjoyable lightweight programme ... It's very schmaltzy and slushy and glossy and too silly to be true ..... but now I've bonded with the characters, story lines and pace I really like it ... Episode 8 had me in dopey, happy, tears ... (they do steal and slim down some plot lines from Greys Anatomy) ... I think it's ideal as a feel-good filler and somehow found myself watching back to back episodes ..... Pure Genius if you want some frothy, clean, modern, medical fun.
paulcurtis_2005 This TV series is great. It starts slow, but once you have watched a few episodes you just want more. A billionaire pulls out all the stops to make the hospital as high tech as possible, eccentric, yes, entertaining, you bet. It reminds me of house, and I hope and pray that they don't do a 'lie to me' on us and stop producing a great TV series. One of those you have to watch
jen_marien The negative reviews here are a bit over the top....those people are more bragging about their infinite medical knowledge than critiquing a TV SHOW. Everyone knows in CSI and Medical shows, one can't actually expect all details to be 100% accurate or each series would be 1,000 hours long.I like this show! I watch TV for entertainment, to be moved, good writing and characters I can relate to. My sister turned me on to Pure Genius and so far I'm loving it and so bummed it's not being renewed for a 2nd season! The story lines are so touching, the whole staff isn't boinking each other like Grey's Anatomy and the actors seem to really fit well together. It blends new medicine with technology in a simple manner - it's obvious it's purely entertainment but each show leaves you hoping that maaaaaybe these medical miracles could happen? I like shows that make me say "wow" or "god damn it" at the end, this one does it. :)
SnoopyStyle James Bell (Augustus Prew) is a high-tech billionaire who builds his medical facility Bunkerhill to push the technological envelope of medicine while pushing back against traditional methodology. He convinces Dr. Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) to join as the Chief of Staff. Dr. Zoe Brockett (Odette Annable), Dr. Malik Verlaine (Aaron Jennings), and Dr. Talaikha Channarayapatra (Reshma Shetty) are some of the doctors. Angie Cheng (Brenda Song) is the technological assistant who takes a liking to Catholic Priest Dr. Scott Strauss (Ward Horton). The character James Bell exists at various places on the spectrum and it's hard to pin him down. I'm willing to buy him as a mercurial character. I'm much less interested in Dermot Mulroney's performance. He's desperate to be a serious veteran but comes off as looking tired and sounding cold. He has more compelling intensity than that. The other characters struggle between a high-tech hospital drama and a sudsy soap. Neither side functions that well. There is a cold distancing barrier to this hospital drama.
