I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Other positive reviews say best what I think. I just wanted to add another in case anyone looking to make more streaming content decides to read this and wants to invest in a great show that would benefit from an expanded storyline. The first season does a fantastic job laying the ground work for a killer crime drama about America in the late-Vietnam War era. For anyone looking for something to watch, even though there is only one season, it's done well with cinematic quality. The storyline is concluded in a wholistic way that is satisfying so you won't feel like you've wasted 8 hours on a cliffhanger that's never resolved.

How DARE they!! This is the most exciting show on cinamax. The LEAST best they have is "skinamax" geesh. This show is AMAZING! Get a grip and gain some girth! I thought it was worth to keep paying for this movie channel but apparently not. The show is awesome. If the producers, directors and actors stop fighting the story was NEVER worth it. However, I give my most honorable plaud and salute to the writer. Outstanding job and two middle fingers to Hollywood politics.

Memphis, Tennessee, 1972. Mac Conway and his friend Arthur have just returned home after serving in Vietnam. They reconnect with their families and try to find jobs. However, work is hard to come by for Vietnam vets. Conway gets contacted by a man known simply as The Broker. He recruits hit men for assignments and believes that Conway would be ideal for this sort of work. Conway is reluctant, but is drawn in once he discovers that Arthur has already accepted a similar offer from The Broker. The Broker gives Conway a code name - Quarry.Interesting, gritty, intriguing series. Wasn't always that way though, taking several episodes to find its focus and rhythm. While the first few episodes of any new series are always scene-setting, the scene initially being set wasn't very engaging. There was enough intrigue to keep you coming back, but there was a good chance that you could give up at any time (and I came close on more than one occasion). Then, from a point, it suddenly got quite interesting and engaging. The plot found direction and Conway's character became someone to root for. What followed were some great, gritty episodes, filled with action, plot development and character development.Looking forward to Season 2.

This show totally surprised me, and continues to do so.What I like about Quarry, apart from the great acting, scripts and realism, is the fact I have no idea what is going to happen in each episode. The fight scenes and violence are truly realistic, and the car chase in one of the earlier episodes raised the bar in car chases. It was as if Quarry had strapped a GoPro to his head and then really rammed and taken on his opponents car. It was that realistic. It isn't all action, and the writers seem to use the time allotted carefully, to flesh out their characters, enhance the story and normally build to a crescendo for the ending.I think this series needs much more publicity, because it is such a hidden gem.
