Synopsis

Return to Peyton Place is an American daytime soap opera which aired on NBC from April 3, 1972 to January 4, 1974. The series was a spin-off of the primetime drama series Peyton Place rather than an adaptation of the 1959 novel of the same name by Grace Metalious. The storylines from the daytime show were a continuation of those from the primetime series. Both James Lipton and Gail Kobe worked as writers on the series during its run. Frank Ferguson, Evelyn Scott, and Patricia Morrow reprised their roles from the earlier series. Selena Cross, a major character in the original novel and the films both it and its sequel inspired, had not been included in the primetime TV series because her storyline was considered too risque at the time. She was a featured character in the daytime soap.

Reviews

RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
dapala-1 This was one of the great soaps of the 70's. It ended way to soon. I was a fan of the nighttime version & I thought the daytime version picked up beautifully where nighttime left off. I especially liked the storyline where Betty kept seeing Martin Peyton in the house, it was creepy, yet fun. Like I said, it ended way to soon, I would love to see it again. I would like to see nighttime version on DVD also! I still remember the final scene with Allsion & Rodney together the way they should have always been. Can somebody refresh my memory about whether Martin Peyton came back at the very end or not? Also, what was the storyline involving Monica Bell & DB Bentley?
Edensgarden85224 I remember this show and loved it! It came on at 3:30 in the afternoon where I was and I can remember taping the show on my audio cassette so that I could have it always. A few years ago, Fox ran the original Peyton Place and I was lucky enough to have a video recorder and recorded all of the episodes. I converted them to DVD and am actually watching it again! (Third time I believe!). I would love to see this show again and have emailed many places asking for it to be released on DVD for my collection! I remember story lines vividly even though I was only in my teens when it aired. Allison being accused of murdering her husband Benny Tate; D.B. Bentley (played by the late Mary Frann of 'Newhart' fame and Monica Bell and her house boat. I remember Rita and Norman had another child on the last episode of 4 January 1974. Peyton Place is a classic town made up of classic characters and anything bearing it's name should be released for us fans! Cheers everyone!
