Synopsis

Skavlan is a Norwegian-Swedish television talk show hosted by Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan. It premiered in Sweden on Sveriges Television in January 2009, and the first guests to appear on the show were former Prime Minister of Sweden Göran Persson and his wife Anitra Steen. On 8 May 2009, it was announced that Skavlan had been renewed for a second season. It was also announced that the show would no longer only be produced by SVT in Sweden; Skavlan would now be partly produced in Norway by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. The first twelve episodes of Skavlan's second season were produced by SVT in Sweden, and the remaining twelve by NRK in Norway. Skavlan speaks Norwegian and his dialog is therefore subtitled in Swedish in Sweden, even though the two languages are quite similar and mutually intelligible. If the persons being interviewed by Skavlan are Swedish, he often tells them to let him know if they do not understand what he is saying. Swedish novelist Jan Guillou has criticized SVT for subtitling the program, stating "there is no need for that. If the host had been Danish, subtitling would have been necessary, but with a Norwegian host it does not make any sense."

MoPoshy Absolutely brilliant
Grimossfer Clever and entertaining enough to recommend even to members of the 1%
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
skovstrup I have seen 4 episodes October 2013. Very impressed of the hosts' ability to make very different people coming from all over the world tell their story and the speak with each other. I am usually a very momentary visitor at this kind of show because I am not interested in the hosts who are usually the main subject. Skavlan is keeping a low profile and seems to establish a surrounding that makes the guest feel confidence and then speak out without very much restraint. The guests I have encountered here are among others: Malala and her father, Bianca Jagger and "Morsan", an eightieths woman who for 17 years has taken care of Swedish and foreign prostitutes around Malmskillnadsgatan i Stockholm. Very much worth watching!!
mads leonard holvik Fredrik Skavlan is a popular talk show host, but I have never had much patience with his concept. First of all, I think he is totally without any moral code, the worst example was an episode where one of the themes were middle aged women hunting down young men and having sex with them. He found that very interesting, of course.Secondly, there is something tiresome in always having to listen to hip, in-the-media people discussing their lives through the often moronic questions Skavlan poses. In his defense, he is a bit naive, so sometimes he asks insulting questions, and then in some strange way they accept it, and the conversation goes on. In a pub he might have had a beer poured over himself or something even worse.
