Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
LouHomey From my favorite movies..
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
idontbrushmyhair Totally overlooked series. Would appeal to the younger crowd if they gave it a chance, but even more-so...people in their 30s. At first I was turned off with the whole cartoon/real life setting, and thought it would be stupid, but no...no no, I was wrong. This show is brilliantly hilarious. Zorn is the best.
Max Yo Love this show! A lot of similarities to my childhood and father figure. Great job of combining animation with reality and using it to set up humor. Every episode had a theme but also created a nice storyline that I wanted to continue following. Character development was also really well done. Hope to see Season 2 soon!
kingbk-2 Son of Zorn is one of those things like Saturday Night Live sketches that are funny in small doses, but try to stretch the concept out to say a feature film or TV series and it falls flat. The first couple of episodes of this show were funny with the whole "Conan the Barbarian cartoon character reunites with long lost son, who is part cartoon, part human, living in Orange County. Hilarity ensues." When you have such a concept like this, once the freshness is over, you need to rely on strong writing to keep people interested. The Grinder last year found a way to do that. This show, on the other hand, has gotten worse and worse each episode. The Zorn character I just find aggravating and the family is so choke full of stereotypes that I roll my eyes. Sketch like concepts sometimes are meant to be just that, and trying to extend them past their expiration date results in bad television or movies. Son of Zorn hasn't learned that lesson.
lunargentmkb I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's hilarious. The cliché divorced father trying to bond with his son theme is given a great twist. Combining animation with live action is definitely a gimmick, but it totally works for me. The entire cast plays it straight, interacting with a 7-foot-tall animated character in a totally natural manner. The animation is crude, but intentionally so.The dialogue is sharp and funny. Cheryl Hines is predictably great. Tim Meadows, as her wimpy, excruciatingly politically correct new fiancé, is sublimely annoying. The kid is believable. Best of all, Jason Sudeikis, voicing Zorn, is a wonderful combination of of epically clueless and touchingly earnest, as he attempts to build a relationship with his son - and sell industrial soap dispensers - or was it paper towels? The show also lacks the mean-spirited tone that keeps me away from the Fox animated comedies.
