Synopsis

Lena and Martin were once madly in love. But, like many marriages, time and circumstance eventually took their toll, and they decide that everyone's lives would be better if they got a divorce. Facing a daunting real estate market, the couple decide not to sell their house and to "Bird Nest" instead. The 'on-duty' parent will live in the house while the 'off-duty' parent will live in the detached garage. As Lena begins to dip her toes into the dating waters, Martin begins to see his own culpability in his marriage falling apart.

brianvan-29456 I understand the premise that these 2 divorcees fall back in love because of their divorce however, I feel this doesn't do the topic of divorce justice. Instead of showcasing a familial dynamic of a healthy divorced couple with the divorcees finding love in others while still caring for their children, the show centers on the idea that divorced couples can get back together and that all they need is 'perspective'. While this may be true for some divorced couples this is not the truth for the majority. It may also cause some younger viewers to believe that their parents could get back together. That being said, I only give this a 5 star review because of the wasted potential but, it is a decent comedy with some laughs.
beau-1-764961 To those giving it a 1/10, seriously? This show is not offensive and if you can't get the humor, you are probably under the age of 40.This is a lighthearted show that dances with the delicate subject of a failed marriage and how to maintain the balance of a family unit. Unlike several shows out there, the kids are not foul mouthed self absorbed "tweens" that a real parent would want to knock upside their head. The adults feel the guilt of their failed relationship and not only try to move forward with their lives (will they get back together or not), but they continue sacrificing for the sake of their offspring. This series pushes the boundaries but doesn't flagrantly break them. I for one will keep watching to see where it goes.
debris_k For anyone wondering if another family comedy with added divorce is possible let me list the prominent features a lot of: Misogyny. Ta-da! The wife-and-mother can do nothing right (without the husband-and-father's guidance, natch). No, really. This mother of three can't even tell her hopefully-very-soon-to-be-ex-husband off for not preparing meals for their children without everyone calling her out on being too "controlling". Isn't she the worst! And on the husband-and-father's side we have the Misunderstood Good Guy trope. So original, isn't it. Anything he might feel vaguely guilty of is immediately remedied by the show without having him face any of the consequences and without accepting any of the blame. The story moves on with his halo growing by the minute, his children and even his wife's own father loving and justifying every single thing about him, and isn't he the poorest sod in the world for having such an unreasonable, demanding wife - but have no fear! Because he still loves his wife and gosh darn it, he'll learn that wedding dance two decades too late and that'll show her! How could she think all his immaturity and the two years without sex prior to the separation meant he wasn't a swell guy; when that young bombshell bimbo finally teaches him to dance oh will his wife be sorry she ever wanted him to be less selfish and responsible! In short, if Woman is Always Wrong About Everything, Man is Constantly Blameless and Right About Everything comedies are your thing, be sure to tune in to this one! (I'm sure in a few eps they'll have the wife crying into her apron about what a bad, no good mother she is for not wanting to let her children go bungee jumping, how could she, because the husband did it and the kids have never loved him more or been the better people for it. Honestly, what will she have been thinking.)
ajolly-71267 The first two episodes have been funny and give me hope that the series will be great!
