Synopsis

That '80s Show is an American sitcom that aired from January through May 2002. Despite having a similar name, show structure, and many of the same writers and production staff, it is not considered a direct spin-off of the more successful That '70s Show. The characters and storylines from both shows never crossed paths. It was a separate decade-based show created because of That '70s Show's popularity at the time.

ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
ActuallyGlimmer The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
generationofswine Despite what the name would suggest, "That '70s Show" was a show about people that just took place in the '70s. In referenced the culture, the politics of the time, but the plots and humor all came from the characters, or at least primarily did."That '80s Show" on the other hand focused too much on the era it was set in. The jokes didn't come from the characters or even the situations they found themselves in.Instead the jokes all centered on the '80s: "Look, I have an enormous cell phone that costs too much and only gives me five minutes of talk time on the battery." Let's face it, jokes like that aren't really funny to begin with and get old very, VERY fast. Not only that, but you really can't even write a sitcom worthy plot around them. And on top of that, the '80s kind of really sucked. So what you have here is a sitcom about a decade that ignores its cast and banks entirely on the decade it's set in to carry the show. The result is kind of an epic fail.
rolab05 I thought "That 80's Show" was a very funny sitcom. The cast fit in perfectly and were hilarious. I think people didn't really like that show because they kept hoping that it would be the same characters of "That 70's Show". If people would watch it again, (without thinking of 70's show), they would probably enjoy it. That 80's show was put on the air too soon. They should have waited a bit longer to put it out there. But it was very funny. If that show would go back on the air, it would probably have better ratings than before. Now that "That 70's Show" is no longer running, they should bring back 80's. Viewers were just loyal to their "70's show" and took 80's show as a threat. I loved that 70's show and was unhappy to see it end. But shows have end some time! I really think that 80's show would do better this time around. Viewers just have to give it a chance and get that 70's show off their minds while watching it. After all, it was a different show, they can't all be the same.
Frank Otter In Holland I've seen first that 80's show. I loved it. Good laughs, nice plots etc. After that, I watched somewhere else that 70's show. After two episodes I was bored and quit watching. In my opinion no humor, weak plots bad acting. So, if there were to make more episodes of that 80's, I'like that. Just the relation between Corey and June is so unlikely, that even that is funny in itself. I loved the series. Maybe the Dutch (or my personal opinion) is different from the American humor. Maybe this is such a series in which America in the 80's is presented as we in Europe picture it. After all, in Holland we do not all walk in wooden shoes, smoking drugs, and live in windmills, but that's the picture most Americans have from Holland, this is about the picture I've from America in the 80's (which is a wrong picture; I know!) jk_vn both of my neighbors who lives left from me and right from me asking me:"what do u think about that 80s show?" hrmm tough question. The people who lives from the left hated the show, they trash and despite the show with every last ounce of their energy. The people who lives from the right completely opposite, they love the show with every piece of their heart. So as a neutral person who have seen all 13 eps of that 80s show, i said to the people from the left: "Maybe u just don't have enough intelligence to understand or appreciate the story plot and and funny jokes of the show, nuff said?" they seem to go quite after that. For people from the right i said: "i'm with you ^^ it is a very fun show to watch. the characters from the show are quite interesting. I absolutely love Tuesday ^^ too. Being born in the 80s myself , but i was too young to acknowledged thing around. now watching the show it does help me understand more about people of that period of time, nuff said?" they seem to get way more exciting after that. That was just my humble opinion so please don't take it personally. have fun watching the show and remember don't trash the time and efforts of people who work hard to give you hours of entertainment. smarten up and appreciate thing like that ^^
