Some things I liked some I did not.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

"The Addams Family" is beloved by many for the place it holds in their hearts because they enjoyed it during its original run. That is understandable, but it should be judged for its quality in an objective way. As a fan of "Mad" magazine, I liked humor to be clever and subversive. "The Addams Family" (TAF) tries to be both, but comes up short.Much of the humor is sophomoric. The same can be said of some "Mad" pieces, but the magazine routinely offered very sophisticated jokes. TAF, via Gomez, sometimes tries for a higher plane of comedy, as when he speaks in Latin (which consisted of stringing together Latin phrases that were unrelated). The characters are adaptations from Charles Addams' series of cartoons. The television show tries to breathe live into these (and other) characters by introducing goofiness. But the basis for much of the humor is incongruity, as when a ghoulish figure behaves in a mundane manner. Most of the other humor is derived from the unexpected. For example, their doorbell is a foghorn; they generally like things that most people dislike; their family physician is a witch doctor. Also, they seem to be unaware of how different they are from average citizens. Many comedy shows from the 60s era were rooted in juvenile humor. That is no surprise. Consider "F Troop", "McHale's Navy" or "Get Smart". Goofy ruled the day. Some comedy shows, however, were more original than others. And some had extraordinary talent in their casts.John Astin and Carolyn Jones are certainly talented, but their performances were as limited by concept as Morticia's gait. In the end, TAF was an average comedy show for its time. It's level of humor was average. Viewed from a vantage of about fifty years later, it pales in comparison with "Frasier", "Modern Family" or even "Roseanne". No doubt it will remain a cult favorite for some. It certainly is an effective example of camp. And that is, probably, its main strength.

The Addams Family is a TV show from the 1960's which was, in general, a satire on society as most people knew it featuring a rich family with strange characteristics and the way they get by in everyday life. Does it still hold up? Surprisingly it does and quite well as a matter of fact.Okay I'm not usually a fan of sitcoms because in general they only have one joke (for example, in Big Bang Theory, the joke is that they're geeky) this show is no exception. The main joke is that they are strange. The reason this works is that you can go anywhere with this joke. They can sell their items at an auction and they're sold for 35 cents, a kid from the family becomes a stereotype and they call for a psychiatrist. These jokes still hold up and they are genuinely funny. One thing that I genuinely like about this show is that with these strange oddities, the Addams Family are happy with it and act like its normal. Picnics at graveyards, a hand that serves them called "Thing", not once did they question whether this was strange. I love that they are so used to all the strangeness that they never once question it.The acting is rather well done, especially for the time. The kids are probably the weakest actors and they deliver their performances okay enough. The best one, strangely, is Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams. She manages to have amazing screen presence, even when in the company of two male actors (John Astin and Jackie Coogan) who chew the scenery. So if you want a sitcom with a satire and a surprising way to keep people entertained, nearly 50 years after it first aired, then I hold this show up with high recommendation.

Carolyn Jones as Morticia Frump Addams was beautiful. Ted Cassidy as Lurch is interesting. John Astin as Gomez Addams was Hilarius. Jackie Coogan as Uncle Fester Frump is funny. Ken Weatherwax as Pugsley Adams and Lisa Loring as Wednesday Friday Adams where cute. Marie Blake as Grandma Adams was very good. The Thing is cool. The lion is interesting. The Adams Family had a great location for the Mansion in Hollywood, Los Angles California. This story is 7 characters of The Adams Family, a Lion, and Thing a hand that comes out of the box. This show is excellent you will like this show, the Characters and the Adams Family Mansion.

Okay, the Addams family is not for everybody. It was kind of the first family on television to be different. First, you have a beautiful seductive mother, Morticia, with lovely long black hair and dressed often in black, and her equally strange husband played by John Astin. Carolyn Jones devoured the role of Morticia that you didn't recognize her at all later on in her years. Mr. and Mrs. Addams have two children, a girl named Wednesday and a son who were both equally strange. Their home had characters like Uncle Fester and their home was equally frightening as well as enchanting. This show is perfect for Halloween marathons. While the Addams' family was strange, it showed that not all families were like the others on television like the Cleavers, the Nelson, and others. My biggest complaint is that they cancelled the show prematurely which didn't let it grow and the reruns are never tiresome.
