alv790 The title is "The Bernie Mac Show", and it lives up to that name. It's all about Bernie Mac and his antics. In fact "Bernie Mac" are the most often used words, since Bernie always talks about himself in the third person when he breaks the fourth wall and addresses the audience directly. Another gimmick is that on-screen scribbled text and arrows are used as captions. None of that will make this palatable unless you happen to enjoy Bernie Mac's whiny musings about how he is a manly-man and should not be expected to look after kids and about how he is going to instill discipline in the children, while in reality he loves them and they run all over him. Very hit-and-miss, and I suspect that for most people it will be more miss than hit.

damone46 Honestly, this is like one of the funniest programs FOX has produced, but they treat it like sh*t. Constant time changes and like no promotion. This show is hilarious, and non-offensive. Doesn't anyone else feel me on this? A lot of network whitewashing... Besides UPN, there are no other shows on broadcast with black leads. And UPN will be obsolete once it merges with the WB, and I'm pretty sure a lot of "color" shows are out the door. I've seen more ads for that piece of sh*t "The Loop" and that other new FOX show where the kid move back in with his parents. Seriously, they've got a real quality show with Bernie Mac and they're wasting it.

toubobie The writing for this show is probably some of the best material out there now, putting other shows to shame, although the cast is bitter-sweet. The growing boy gets better with time, while the teenager often seems not to know what to do with herself. The youngest of the three kids is no longer cute and was never right for the part. Bernie Mac constantly referring to her as baby girl is indeed annoying and tired. Most of all, and most evident in his badgering soliloquies to 'A-mer-yi-kah,' Bernie Mac possesses an irritating step-n-fetch-it, 'yessir boss,' eager to please personae that would make any self-respecting African American silently CRINGE! It's very hard to watch.
