Just so...so bad

A brilliant film that helped define a genre
Kamila Bell
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

More PC pandering and rewriting of 1820s London, which was overwhelmingly white, not black

Seems they have borrowed Sharpe's sword (Ep 1)... A 1796 Heavy Cavaly Trooper sword carried by a naval bod is marginally offensive.
Good show though!

Feels like the show is truly underappreciated. One might even go as far as calling it a hidden gem.The writing succeeds in creating a gripping, melancholic reality full of subtle emotion, perfectly portrayed by the cast. The absence of unnecessary flashiness and the convincing look through the eyes of the hopeless and the ambitious leaves me craving for more episodes.
