Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
micke-bystrom This was a big disappointment considering the praise from other reviewers. This is exactly the kind of comedy show as the "When the Whistle Blows" that Ricky Gervais portraits in the excellent "Extras", that is a really stupid and quite boring kind of humor and an even more stupid and boring story. That TV show is a joke in itself in "Extras". which is telling considering.Compared to "Extras", "The Office" or "Silicon Valley" this is a nothingness of a TV show. Maybe if you're British there are things you've learned to think is funny, but I'd guess not. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid and there are many great British shows that I like. Not this one.
MartinHafer Graham Linehan wrote one of the very best comedies of the 1990s, "Father Ted". If you haven't seen it, you absolutely must. I was very fortunate to have my sister-in-law recommend "The IT Crowd" because it shows that Linehan is a very blessed writer...someone who has been brilliant twice or more in his career. I don't know how he did it, but "The IT Crowd" manages to be nearly as good as "Father Ted".The show is set in the basement of a building housing a mega-corporation*. It follows the adventures of two incredibly geeky computer nerds who provide support to folks who mostly couldn't care less about them. And, in the first episode they are joined by Jen...a rather dim career woman without a clue as to how computers or the internet actually work or how to fix anything! The show works well because of two big reasons. First, the dialog is brilliant...and often I could imagine Father Ted and the thickie Father Dougal having the exact same conversations. Second, the sitations the three characters get in are simply hilarious. I particularly loved the episode about the gay play as well as the episode where Jen decides to show everyone THE Internet! Overall, there's really nothing not to like about the show...watch it.
WubsTheFadger Short and Simple Review by WubsTheFadgerThe IT Crowd has plot lines that vary from episode to episode. There are some jokes that are seen and heard through many episodes. The individual story's are hilarious and well thought out.The acting is great. The chemistry between Richard Ayoade, Chris O'Dowd, Katherine Parkinson, Christopher Morris, and Matt Berry is the best part of the show. The pacing in some of the episodes can seem a little slow but the director does this to set up joke that builds up.The episode length is good. Most episodes are about 22 minutes long. Each season is 6 episodes except for the final season which is just 1 48 minute episode. I do wish there were more episodes because of the great story telling and interesting characters.Pros: Great acting, hilarious individual story's, good chemistry between the actors, directors patience in building up a joke, and a short episode lengthCons: Some slow pacing and not enough episodesOverall Rating: 9.0
Chridular I heard about this show just recently. I wasn't given much of an idea of what it was, but I was told it focused on some nerdy characters similar to The Big Bang Theory. I sat down to watch this show and couldn't stop! I'd have to say that the comparison of the characters to The Big Bang Theory was not all that accurate, but that really helped make this show original. It revolves around the IT department of a fairly large company. There are three main characters, played by Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, and Katherine Parkinson, who work in this department. They each have very different personalities which adds to the various types of scenarios that can come across as convincing throughout the series. The jokes are very well-written and perfectly timed. Even if you don't work in IT, you will still get a lot of enjoyment out of watching this show. I just wish I had learned about it sooner!
