ScoobyWell Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
Christophe Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Abegail Noëlle While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
Cody One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Arch I have thoroughly enjoyed the duly lavish and marvellous The Last Tycoon so I am bewildered and extremely dissapointed at the news a second series has not been commissioned. TLT is a high quality, well crafted and well acted show based on superlative source material both literary and actual. Hollywood's heyday is a much untapped source for an ongoing drama (especially in tv) and TLT brilliantly and vividly evokes the era. I sincerely hope Amazon will rethink its decision before it's too late. There is much to be said for timeless, enduring quality programming as opposed to yet another pastiche of blockbuster Game of Thrones as is the rumoured plan.
jprousa Had been meaning to start watching the show ever since it came out but only found it because of my browsing through Amazon's library. Although I feel Amazon did a poor job of marketing it, I flew through the entire season 1 and am now devastated to find that they've canceled the show. As much as I enjoy learning about history, the World War eras have never been of much interest until I started watching this show and now I'm completely sucked in... with no resolution! Fantastic story lines, great actors... I've been on the edge of my seat at the end of each episode. I haven't paid much attention to TV lately since there hasn't been much on to watch but after finally finding something I couldn't wait to turn on, Amazon pulled the plug.
jeffstill The premise and execution of this show is excellent. Superb acting, intriguing and juicy story lines, and the sets and costumes magnificent. Bomer is the best he's ever been, Grammar always holds the screen, and Lily Collins is quite good as well. From the opening credits to the final image, this was a great watch. Can't wait for season 2!
frank-brennan-1 I am hooked on this already. Was looking for something to fill the Game of Thrones and Vikings hole and this is it! Then realised that so far it only a single episode pilot. Glad it has been picked up as a series and can't wait to see more. Great sets and perfect cast. Can't believe the pompous reviewer at the Guardian trashed it. If you liked the recent version of the Great Gatsby then you'll love this.
