I gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

The show extracts three very likable but slightly shallow characters from The X Files, and sets them up with a show of their own. That's all that was preserved in this transplant, and that was a poor decision. "The X Files" works because it takes itself seriously, and doesn't insult the intelligence of its viewers; "The Lone Gunmen" fails because this spin off breaks away from that tradition. "The Lone Gunmen" is written for a crowd of morons: the sort of juvenile viewers who like "Get Smart", "Laugh In", and "H. R. Puffinstuff".The makers decided that TV didn't have room for another serious "Twilight Zone / Outer Limits / Night Stalker / X-Files" TV show, so they turned these fine characters into The Three Stooges. It was a mistake that was painful to watch.I'm saddened that the show was cancelled in mid-season, rather than gutted and reconfigured with a more "X-Files" formula. I'm glad that the show's producers realized that its stoopid dumbed-down scooby doo humor was a mistake, but the characters and the show could have recovered from this poor start. The Lone Gunmen could have gone through a makeover to produce a sort of 'Sneakers' / 'Hackers' / 'Night Stalker' show to rival The X Files.

Well I have to say I loved this show as well as I did with the X-Files. It was a very subtle variant of any detective-investigation show and giving them the freedom of operating beyond only law-abiding actions they could produce much more great results than anything else. Whatever the problem, the Lone Gunmen could always work it out.As to why they were cancelled ? I didn't know they were, I actually thought that their deaths revealed in X-Files was what created a dead end for the show. Many have asked though, did they really die? Why wasn't Langly's chest much larger than the others? And yada yada :p But I guess those who were really hoping for a comeback lost their head some time ago, as it's a long time since this show really was on.

I bought the DVDs last week and watched all episodes one after the other. The Lone Gunmen TV show has depressed me. The 3 main characters were always broke, complete outcasts and in immediate danger. I am a fellow geek and seeing them in such a condition (and what eventually happened to them at the end) is breaking my heart. However, this condition only empowers what they stand for by showing to the viewer what price they have to pay for what they believe in. The introduction of Jimmy Bond and Yves was a clever addition to the character set, in order to attract more viewers who don't necessarily care a lot about the technical sides of things -- although I found Yves' character annoying at times. To be honest, the Lone Gunmen show was just above average. It didn't excel compared to X-Files or other shows of its time. This doesn't mean that it was a bad show, but simply not as good as it could have been. I am pretty sure that their budget was quite tight, judging from the limiting sets that each episode featured. However, each episode had its moments, especially when humor was involved. My favorite episode is "All about Yves" and the worst is "Tango de los Pistoleros".I definitely suggest geek viewers to buy the DVD. I am not sure that less geeky viewers would enjoy it as much though.Rating: 7/10

Okay. Seriously. This show was cancelled for the same reason every good Fox show (with the exception of the Simpsons and the X-Files) gets cancelled. BECAUSE FOX IS A CRAPPY NETWORK!!! By now, you should no better than to get attached to anything that's been on the Fox network less than three seasons. Until they start that third season, the show could get cancelled at any time. Once you hit season three, you're pretty much made. The Fox Network executives simply do not know good television. They cancel shows like Firefly (whole other can of worms), Family Guy (repeatedly) and Greg the Bunny, while keeping garbage like American Idol and the Simpsons. Okay. That needs a qualifier. The Simpsons used to be good. Now, they've run out of material and the show is just boring.Anyway. That's the end of my rant. Have a nice day. Don't watch Fox.
