tueropedro As the comments here and the rates, this show is a political war against Lula and PT and more in general, every non liberal process in Latin America for the past decades. The show is not good even in technical reviews. This is the world in we live in. See this only if you are a rich, white, racist, and not much clever person in Brazil, or just for scientific reasons, to get to know the mechanism of the propaganda.

moamallemont I typically don't write reviews but "The Mechanism" (original title "O Mecanísmo") is a great masterpiece that demands one. This incredible TV series mirrors with perfection the drama that Brazilians have been living forever and was extremely aggravated over the last 15 years due to a corruption cartel industry involving the government leaders and main private business in the country. The name "The Mechanism" comes from the concept of fractals, which define a model, a mechanism, (corruption model in this case) that repeats itself over and over. In order to avoid being sued by the involved companies and politicians all names where changed but they are still similar enough to the original ones as well as the actual look of the actors. I wonder if it will also show how much damage it caused to the country in many different ways. As an example; I still remember how complicated it was for me to close business with Brazilian companies because the entire country was frozen and all strategic projects were waiting for the end of the problem (the prosecution of all involved). Many times I felt ashamed about my country's situation. However, I knew it was going to change. It is amazing to realize there will always be someone wanting to fight crime and to give his live for it and also to inspire others to do the same just because it is the right thing to do. My wife and I just finished watching Season 1; we can't wait for Season 2.

MrBobWhite This show is amazing. If you like Narcos and The Wire then you will likely enjoy this. The Mechanism is about the never-ending fight against corruption in Brazil and a rabbit hole that doesn't seem to have an end. First, allow me to give you some background information. We are facing the worst political crisis in the history of Brazil, probably in the history of the world! Let´s see, our first female president was impeached recently (making it the second presidential impeachment in a 30 year span), our former president was convicted of corruption charges and sentenced to 12 years in prison and the current president is being investigated as well. These investigations and their fruition are the result of a Federal Police operation called Car Wash which, initially ,looked into what they thought was a money laundering scheme ran by a black market currency dealer but soon their investigation linked him to a much larger corruption scheme, a corruption scheme that goes deep into our political structure from senators to the head of state, into our state-controlled companies and construction firms.That´s what The Mechanism is about. On a side note, don´t worry about having to read subtitles. I know most Americans don´t care much for them. Audio in English is available and the dubbing quality is excellent.
