A man with a tattoo of the ice hockey team Oulun Kärpät on his arm is found murdered on the Spanish Sunshine Coast. Hilkka Mäntymäki's peaceful quality time in Finland is interrupted when Luisa Salinas, who is leading an investigation in Spain, sends Hilkka a call for help.

The hunt to catch criminals leads to disappointment. With a new chief, things start to get tough for Luisa. Her decisions are questioned and results are expected. Hilkka's private life is rocked and she is faced with difficult decisions.

Hilkka returns to Finland, but the race to catch the criminals continues. The interrogations of Sohanna and Petteri create unexpected pressure, and eventually someone has to speak out. When the background of the criminal gang is finally revealed, the investigators must once again weave a plot that also requires Hilkka's input.

Synopsis

Two murders shake the Finnish community of Fuengirola, a group that made this tiny corner of Málaga their own little Finnish paradise on the shores of the Mediterranean. Hilkka Mäntymäki, a veteran crime detective aged 60, is travelling from Helsinki to help the local police on a case that will soon claim new victims. Because escaping the cold and the dark is much easier than leaving your own past behind.
