The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

I am 25, and live very near Canada. I remember watching this show via a Canadian station probably twelve or thirteen years ago. I loved it. It was right up there with Ducktales, Gargoyles, Aladdin, Dinosaurs, Gummi Bears and Ren and Stimpy (when Ren and Stimpy first aired, I was too young to understand most of the adult humor it had, so my father and I both enjoyed the series, but for different reasons). These were true classics, unlike most of today's cartoons (although I must admit, I enjoy most episodes of Spongebob Squarepants). Hopefully I will soon be having a child of my own, and be able to introduce them into a world of television that includes I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Ducktales, The Raccoons, Ren and Stimpy, You Can't Do That on Television and Spongebob Squarepants.

'The Raccoons' was one of my fave cartoons ever. Many of the episodes were great fun to watch, and Cyril Sneer made an excellent villain. My fave character bar none was and always has been Bert Raccoon, he just steals the show every time with his accident-prone antics! Many of the supporting characters do the show great justice too and the animation is well done for the time. It still looks nice today. The theme music is still as great as it was too.Overall a very well executed series which has deservedly made DVD in Canada and the USA. All it needs now is a DVD release in the UK as well!

'The Raccoons' was the best! Now this was the best show that ever aired on the Disney Channel, and it's funny because as soon as it was taken off, Disney Channel just wasn't quite the same (though it was still cool because they still showed obscure animated specials and movies!).This was hands down the best cartoon of the '80s. There were a lot of fantastic cartoons, but this was the coolest one (though 'Muppet Babies' is way up there too). The animation's not cheaply done, the songs were great and added a lot of feel to the show, and the characters were both cute and interesting. It was also the only Canadian cartoon to be produced entirely within the country (just an interesting fact).My favorite episode is probably the one where Lisa takes up smoking under pressure from an old friend. It was touching, but not overly preachy. You could really learn a lot from this show, and it really needs to be either put back on American TV or released on DVD.

The Raccoons and The Muppet Babies are the two best cartoon shows of the '80s, and there were a lot of great cartoons back then! I love this show because it's not some 30-minute toy commercial; it's a quality cartoon with great characters, great songs, and great plots. Like any fan of this show, I love Bert. He's just so courageous and his antics always give me a laugh. Cyril Sneer may come off selfish and mean, but he's really a very nice guy, especially with his son Cedric. And the songs in this show are some of the best songs ever made for a cartoon; they always fit in nicely with the plot and had that classic new wave sound to it (something that The Muppet Babies also have).So, if you can find it, give this show a good watch. You'll love it!Rating: 11/10
