Myron Clemons
A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Patience Watson
One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.
Freeman
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

Bad, bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. Bad writing, HORRIBLE acting, bad directing (from camera angles to lighting to sound effects). Just a shell of anyone who at least half-way enjoyed The (Real) Tick of our younger years.

I hadn't heard of The Tick before, so I watched the show with - so to say - fresh eyes and I was thrilled.
What makes this show so fun and sets its apart from other show on TV right now is the way it parodies the superhero genre and plays with the viewer's expectations: The Tick has no origin story like we are used to in mainstream comic adaptations - instead he has no idea where he comes from; one of the villains "lair" is her house that she still shares with her ex; the sidekicks heroic rescue of a "baby" is not an actual baby but a dog....on so an.
At the same time the show manages to tell an engaging story that centers not just around the side of the heroes, but also the villains (and antiheroes).
The actors do all a great job, and especially Yara Martinz as Ms. Lint stands out as she steals very scene she is in.

I never watched the old cartoon nor the first live action versions of "The Tick". Because of this, I might not be the very best judge of the quality of this show relative to the other incarnations. Still, I do enjoy this made for Amazon show very much. This show is a nice anti-super hero show. What I mean is that although the Tick is a hero, he often seems incredibly stupid and inept. Likewise, his unwilling sidekick, Arthur, is anything but heroic. But together they inexplicably manage to fight crime! The writing, especially the dialog, is what I really enjoy about the show. It's silly, clever and makes you laugh...mostly because the most horrible things keep happening to poor Arthur and it's a serious case of Schadenfreud watching and laughing at the guy!

Just meh. I don't know, this series isn't good enough to make you want to watch another season. The biggest problem is the dialogue, the writing. The Tick says his random catch phrases over and over again and you're ready to be done with the entire series by the end of episode three. Whereas the 2001 live action Tick series, which I watch right after watching this one, I swear the Tick has a bigger vocabulary or something because he is an idiot but the 2017 Tick makes him seem like a genius. Whatever, I am getting off topic. The writing killed this series for me. I have zero interest in watching the second season. Amazon has better get their stuff together. This is like the second or third amazon studios thing that has left me saying meh.
