kgalligan Writing is just bad. Its not easy to explain, but its hard to watch. The reviews tend to be pretty good, so I'm sure most won't agree with me, but that's what I think. Got about halfway through season one, then just stopped. The characters and situations just don't seem believable, and in a gritty military show, you need that.Feels like a sit-com where people die.Apparently my review isn't long enough, so I'll go into some detail. The plots and characters are too simple and convenient. To me it feels like the show can't decide if it wants to be Full Metal Jacket or the A-team, and you REALLY need to pick a lane as far as that goes.

Sam Harris Man... I've watched way to many TV shows where its just too unrealistic, the good guys waltz in the room shoot everyone and then say a cheesy line.The Unit is a lot better although it does not have a whole season plot and then an episode plot like many of the other shows I've watched, the gun fights are very well filmed and the tactics are interesting but get very unorthodox at times it is still believable.Their are many episode over the 4 seasons that have twists in the plot which keep it interesting because you never know whats going to happen because the episodes are never predictable.Its good to watch an action show where the characters are not invincible like in a Steven Seagal film, but at the same time the action and the actors are superb.Kudos to the cast and crew.

micahbosarge this is a rare TV show that doesn't come around often many action shows get green lite for a pilot episode than doesn't do well i can only name a handful that are successful like Chuck Noris's (Walker Texas Ranger),JJ Abrams's (Alias),Jerry Bruckhiemer's (csi),and Fox's (24).in 1993 it was walker Texas ranger, in 2000 it was csi,and alias, in 2001 there was 24 it is 2010 and the only;y show still airing that i named is csi all the others have ended or been canceled but i did not mention the unit because until 2 months ago i had never heard of it and i have been watching 24 on fox for years and for some reason i had no memory of seeing any commercials for the unit.so 2 months ago i was shopping in walmart and noticed TV dvds on sale the unit season 1 and 2 was in a double pack for $30 and lost was $22 per season so in the interest of saving money i was getting lost season 1 but then something in my head said get lost later on bluray and buy the unit now so i did when i got home and started watching it i was hooked in the first 5 minutes the action was phenomenal the suspense was refreshing and something TV has been lacking for a long time so in a week i finished both seasons and thought to my self wow can't wait till the fall for the new season so i looked on the internet for the fall season TV schedule and noticed that there was no unit in any of the time slots so i when to the fox web site and found that the unit had been canceled only after 4 seasons i was shocked i thought this show was something special and at least should have been on the air for 4 or 5 more seasons but i guess 4 seasons on DVD will have to do so if you haven seen a episode or maybe missed some i would highly recommend buy all 4 seasons of the unit you won't be2 disappointed so all in all i give it 10 out of 10

imdb-630-284398 This entire series is outstanding. I am kicking myself for not paying closer attention to it when it was on broadcast television. Bought all 4 seasons on DVD and have been watching them in order. Stays truthful to Haney's book and his input and influence on the episodes is obvious. When CBS put Season 4 on Sundays at 10:PM, it was the deathnell for the series. During Football season, because of late game over-runs the entire Sunday night CBS prime time lineup often starts late, and, at unpredictable times in the east and central time zones. Almost impossible to build or maintain an audience when you never know what time the show will begin. Check the fate of any drama that CBS puts in that time slot (during the fall. Basically a great series got screwed! Too bad Shawn Ryan couldn't get FX to pick it up. This show is right up there with 24 and in many respects, even better. There is enough on-going connective story to keep die hard fans moving from episode to episode, and, for the occasional viewer each episode is a stand alone story. Something 24 does not have. If you've never seen The Unit, or like me, was just a casual viewer, get season 1 episode one and start watching. You'll be glad you did
