Law Hin Chung is a veterinarian who takes a great interest in body health and urges his brother to jog with him every morning. Kin has arranged his wife, Debbie, to go to the States for emigration purpose while he stays 'in Hong Kong to earn the living. The two friends share their sympathy. Pui Yee hires a private detective to collect evidence against Jo so as to apply to court for a divorce. She also tries every means to retain the right of having her son, Man Man, to stay with her. Having a high regard of Fong Ling's ability, Kin Ting invites her to work as art director at his film company. Pui Yee has a hard time initially to get back to work. But as she gains more experience and accumulates more knowledge, she begins to have more confidence in her work. Mei Ki leaves home to stay with Man Yee. Man Yee sympathizes with Mei Ki. She thinks Ka Cheuk has been unfair and has another fight with Yuk Chun. Yuk Chun feels sorry about bringing all the problems between Mei Ki and the family. She decides to move out of the house. Only with Fong Ling and Ka Cheuk's persuasion does she change her mind. Pui Yee has been performing very well in her job. She is highly regarded by one of the clients who invite her to work in his stock agency firm. She feels very encouraging and is much more confident. After divorce, Jo returns to bachelor life and has been enjoying himself for some time. Jo is attracted by Siu Mei when he meets her at Chung's vet. He wants to find out more about her from Chung.

Jo arranges Siu Mei to work as receptionist at his office. Hasn't got much experience, Siu Mei creates problems and Jo tries to explain for her. Under severe pressure, Siu Mei returns to her life as mistress making Jo very disappointed. Because of job satisfaction and better remuneration, Fong Ling agrees to work on the next movie as art director. Chung is not happy with her decision but she promises to go for a holiday with him after the project. . Jackie sleeps with Mei Ki. Despite of this, she is not entrusted with more authority because of her incapability. Trying to look for Siu Mei's dog as a companion for the dog of his auntie, Chung has more chance to see Siu Mei. Fong Ling suspects that her husband‧ is having an affair with Siu Mei.

Fong Ling is angry with Chung who works keenly for Siu Mei. She grumbles in front of the relatives, thus arousing discontentment of Yee Kan. Yee Kan complains that Ka Cheuk has not been teaching his daughter properly and the ill feeling between the two is revived. Chung has always been supportive to his wife and tries to resolve the conflict between her and his mother. Later when the couple have less time together, Chung feels very regretful. Fong Ling is nominated best art director. Mei Ki thinks her sister doesn't deserve the credit and embarrasses Fong Ling in public. Yee Kan urges Fong Ling to give birth to a baby. Fong Ling rapidly gets recognised in the field as an outstanding art director. To her joy, she wins the award for the Best Art Director in the Annual Film Awards. More than ever, she is determined to develop her own career. While feeling happy for his wife, Chung is hit by the fact that Fong Ling spends less and less time with him. He talks to her asking to give up her career, but Fong Ling adamantly refuses. Mei Ki suffers great blow when Kin Ting goes back to his wife. She goes wild with jealousy when seeing them going out intimately. Frustrated, she vents out her anger toward her family.

Fong Ling involuntarily gets in a row with Yee Kan, as she tries to pick up some housework. Fong becomes warned of becoming a housewife. Mei Ki fails terribly both in her career and her love affair with Kin Ting. In resolution, she decides to prepare herself for studying abroad. Yee Kan looks forward eagerly to seeing Chung and Fong Ling having babies. But Fong Ling is too committed to her career to care for having babies. Yee Kan is unhappy about it. Harsh words are exchanged frequently between the two women.

Pui Yee talks often to Yee Kan and helps relieve much of her frustrations. Becoming economically independent, Pui Yee plans to take full responsibility of rearing her son. But when she demands for the right to the child, Jo adamantly refuses. Chung talks to Fong Ling about his plan to purchase the premises which he has been renting for his clinic. Fong Ling objects at first, but finally gives support to his decision.

Debby returns to the states, unaccustomed to the life in Hong Kong. Kin Ting respects her decision to go, but decides to stay by himself. Heung has developed stomach problems for consuming too much alcohol over the years. She is sent to hospital for operation. Yee Kan and Chung are supportive and caring. Only then is Heung relieved. Kin Ting comes across Mei Ki and love rekindles between the two.

Fong Ling starts working on a new project and needs an assistant Arts Director. Kin Ting helps her approach Mei Ki, who agrees to join. Fong Ling works long hours to get the project going and neglects Chung, who begins to spend time with Siu Mei in his idleness. Jo begins to miss family life. When he sees the transformed Pui Yee, from an ignorant housewife to a smart career woman, he begins to feel remorse for the divorce. He decides to woo her back. Siu Mei's pet dies and she is overwhelmed with grief. Chung stays by her to make her feel better.

Siu Mei begs Chung to let her stay overnight in his place, so that she can be spared of staying in her own house alone. As the whole family is away, Chung agrees. Fong Ling suddenly appears in the middle of the night and mistaking Chung for having an affair with Siu Mei. She packs and goes, and would not listen to his explanation. Chung explains weakly about his innocence. Even his famiIy is unconvinced.

Yee Kan examines the circumstances and finds Chung highly unreliable. Added to the 'statement' given by Pui Yee for having witnessing them together from her own window, Chung's guilt is fully established. Only Kin Ting stands by Chung and tries to persuade Fong Ling of his innocence. Chung hopes to get Siu Mei to explain everything. But she is nowhere to be found.

Jo is sent to hospital for a sudden illness. Out of kindness, Pui Yee attends to him. Mei Ki develops a solid relationship with Kin Ting. Getting matured, she takes the initiative to end her age old rivalries with Fong Ling. Jo recovers from his sickness and is drastically transformed. He becomes a caring family man, and Pui Yee begins to see him in a new light. Siu Mei appears finally, .but claims that she is leaving in a few hours for Europe. Chung is anxious to get in touch with Fong Ling to clear the misunderstanding.

Siu Mei explains everything to Pui Yee and Yee Kan. She even comes up with an idea to videotape her speech for Fong Ling. Chung waits till midnight for Fong Ling with the tape, eagerly hoping that she would be convinced now of his innocence. When Fong Ling still speaks with the same harshness after viewing the tape, Chung is greatly hurt. Mixed with anger and despair, he suggests a divorce. At the same time, Debby wants a divorce from Kin Ting. Once and for all, these young couples will have to resolve their marriage crises.
